Perhaps we could set up some sort of fund to help supply these people with distortion-free mirrors in which to take a long hard look at themselves.

    UK NICE 2021 ME/CFS Guideline, published 29th October - post-publication discussion

Sometimes, in order to build something better, you have to tear down the old broken rotten thing. Bunch of snowflakes, aren't they. Way too used to getting their way, by hook or by crook, and never having to answer to reality and ethics. Excellent blog, as always. Thank you. We all...

And, somehow, it always ends up on the patients. This. It is why they ignored patients reporting harm, or didn't measure it properly.

Good questions, @Invisible Woman. And, @adambeyoncelowe. –––––––– Completely and utterly wrong. There is no baseline, or at least it is too unstable to be of practical use. IOW, it isn't a 'baseline' in any useful practical sense of the word. That is one of the fundamental problems in dealing...

Autonomic, Endocrine, and Inflammation Profiles in Functional Neurological Disorder: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis, 2021, Perez et al

Previously posted: "....it is critical to realize that we cannot succeed if we use DSM categories as the “gold standard.” The diagnostic system has to be based on the emerging research data, not on the current symptom-based categories. Imagine deciding that EKGs were not useful because many...

Or just doesn't exist in the first place. Just love how they are trying to drum up physiological findings to justify their psycho-behavioural fictions.

Australia is a mixed bag for doctors. Covers the spectrum. Mostly luck of the draw. It is easy enough to change doctors here, GPs at least, if there is another one nearby.

Bring. It. On. I thought they rolled over a bit too easy at the round table.

NICE ME/CFS guideline - Stakeholder submissions to the draft and NICE responses - published 29th October 2021 - discussion thread

There are whole careers and professorships in history and ethics to be had on investigating and telling the real story of this shabby brutal saga. Not joking. Use their own words back against them. Only seems fair.

Also avoiding exacerbating symptoms. I remain concerned with the concepts of 'energy' limits and management. Still anchored too much to the fatigue thing for my liking. But it is a huge and critical step in the right direction. I think now it has the formal stamp from the clinic guidelines...

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

IIRC, non-priority groups become eligible 6 months after their second shot. For me that is also January. Will probably more-or-less follow the original sequence of eligibility.

Fundraising for UK ME charities in memory of Graham McPhee

Thank you, @IanMcPhee Only reason I ask is because the overlapping Tuller donation drive is probably currently hoovering up some available funds. Certainly is for me. But that drive ends in 3 days, so next payday (11th Nov) I can send a bit to your Dad's fund too.

    What is fatigue?

This. It is not fatigue in any normal sense. It is an extremely high cost to physiological activity of any kind, including base metabolism. We are starting from way below par before we even exceed base metabolism. It is a pathological load of some kind on the body. I suspect almost everything...
