Distinct seasonality and increased respiratory failure in RSV patients < 2 years of age after emergence of SARS-CoV-2.. Bähre et al, 2025

I've been repeating this a lot to healthcare workers but anti-vaccine talk such as "infection is better than vaccines"* has seemingly gained ground. *Yes, sure, an infection can make the immune system create antibodies against a larger variety of the pathogen than a vaccine with only part of...

How to read while lying completely flat?

I've seen laptop desks for lying down flat, but I'm not sure if they can be hacked for lying in bed/soft surface: https://www.etsy.com/no-en/listing/1552627931/laptop-desk-designed-for-lying-down?

Evidence of GET (and exercise generally) being helpful or harmful in ME/CFS and related conditions

Is there a newer resource than the reanalysis of the Cochrane review by Vink and Vink-Niese from 2018 that states that reporting of harms have not been adequate in studies on exercise?

Risk factors for severe ME/CFS, 2009, Pheby and Saffron

If somethings hides in the X chromosome, women are usually less at risk since we have a copy. But mitochondria DNA is from the mother's line too.

Risk factors for severe ME/CFS, 2009, Pheby and Saffron

I've never been more thankful for being lost in the system than I am for having dodged the bullet of exercise treatment for ME when I dropped out of high school and got no help. In stead I got two years of taking things at my own pace and eventually was able to complete school and go to university.

Interesting he spends so much time on the ME bit, it's not like he's not criticised for other stuff I'd think he is more infamous for.

Not to brag but I agree  ME is sadly become a topic in the election for a new team to lead the largest university in Norway, University of Oslo. Harald Eia, standup comedian with a background in sociology is part of one of the teams. Eia has discussed ME in his podcast and on TV, in a...

I get the same response. But I don't get it with all the people saying they are indispensable at work and other stuff. And in my field with many having temporary positions and strict deadlines... why not avoid illness? The high levels of sick leave is placing many under "extreme" levels of...

Good for him. I was a bit annoyed when they said masks didn't work (funny how the skiing people manage to use FFP2's when health care do not..), nice to see they seem to learn after some bouts of illness (i seem to remember he had to pass on some training, and did he miss a competition as well...

Harms of exercise training in patients with cancer undergoing systemic treatment: a systematic review and meta-analysis ..., 2023, Thomsen et al

In nutrition we are taught that even if there might be grounds for a specific diet change, the patient might be "harmed" as they might have to forsake other things to comply with the dietary advice/they might not be able to comply for other reasons (not able to shop and prep food themselves for...

It's despairing they are allowed to continue. Competence centers other people want to keep are closed down due to funding, but they somehow have managed to stay afloat despite massive criticism.

The findings in this study on wage development/rehabilitation was presented in an opinion piece in Aftenposten not so long ago, basically stating that most ME patients do not recover (contrary to what is often said in the Norwegian news). So of course our competence center had to write a reply...
