    Ketogenic diet

Hi everyone - sigh... well I just started recovering around midday today from a crash that started Sunday evening. Still trying to get my head around what happened, it's been a learning experience. So I went approx 2 weeks without crashing, which is a major first for me. I always used to have...

    Netflix Original “The Bleeding Edge”

I’m watching this now and wow, the amount of life-altering devastation these poor women and men have suffered due to being implanted with inadequately tested medical devices gone wrong reminds me, in a way, to what we’ve gone through with ME/CFS. Check out “The Bleeding Edge” on Netflix...

Poll: Are most ME symptoms in beginning driven by drastic impairment of glucose metabolism?

Done. It could be that all people who get the exact symptoms of ME have impaired intracellular glucose metabolism driving most symptoms. Those who recover in a few months are due to the impairment righting itself.

Poll: Are most ME symptoms in beginning driven by drastic impairment of glucose metabolism?

Here's the full poll question (because I couldn't fit it): Are all ME cases and most of the symptoms, at least at onset and in early disease, driven by the drastic intracellular impairment of glucose metabolism? The realm of intracellular glucose metabolism impairments suggested by the various...

    Ketogenic diet

Yesterday I attempted to test a more physically and mentally active day. This was the first time I've done such a test since starting this journey. I drove  my spouse and I 45 min in heavy traffic to an appointment, had conversation with others during that time for over an hour, drove...

    Ketogenic diet

For those vegans and vegetarians following this, you can actually do a vegan or vegetarian ketogenic diet. Please look on the web and you will find a trove of information on this. Realistically yes I understand it would make an already somewhat restricted diet more restricted, but just wanted...

    Ketogenic diet

It’s really hard to answer this accurately... I could make a standard diet really expensive if you like to eat lots of costly things.

    Ketogenic diet

I think it depends on what your weight is. If you weigh 250 lbs definitely shouldn’t eat 250g protein per day. In some of my earlier thread replies I stated that keto sites generally state slightly different things about consuming adequate protein. Some say: 1. Standard keto macro breakdown of...

    Ketogenic diet

You can do all the above. See the keto macro calculator link I posted, plus any app you might use will have the same thing to set your goals.

    Ketogenic diet

Wanted to also add to this, I read or heard from a few other PWME here or on PR who had major improvements or remissions on a ketogenic diet and some said it took a few weeks to get to where I am. Everyone is different, particularly where each person’s ME disease state is and their...

    Ketogenic diet

Hi all - here’s a good online keto macro calculator with good default settings and some advanced fields if you need to set special parameters: https://www.perfectketo.com/keto-macro-calculator/ For my body and ME disease state, the standard and recommended regimen of 5% net carbs / 20% protein...

    Ketogenic diet

I started this journey with a 48-hr fast in the middle of a crash in bed (ketogenic diet sites recommend such a fast). Only ate ~700 calories per day of ketogenic food, raw almond butter, kalamata spread, celery sticks. Didn't count anything because I was in middle of crash hell. I just...

    Ketogenic diet

Here's what I ate today. As mentioned in one of my previous replies in this thread, to make this diet doable for me and having ME I knew I didn't want to make any recipes yet. It's food deconstructed ;). It's good to buy a big variety of ketogenic foods. So even though you are just eating...

    Ketogenic diet

Hi @Trish - I tried two diets, vegan and gluten free. I did them with the same level of rigor, commitment, and care as the ketogenic diet. I did each diet for approx 2 months. Both did nothing to improve my ME and I continued to slowly get worse. Maybe I’m sensitive to carbs but that just...

    Ketogenic diet

Update: for the past 5 days on this diet my sleep has been so amazing compared to my 5 1/2 years of ME. Sleep disturbances were one of my worst ME symptoms. I would have very strong wired but tired feelings at night, could never fall asleep, would have these attacks/irritations in my gut or...

    Ketogenic diet

I just went outside, by myself, for the first time in over two weeks. I now have far reduced, or close to zero, photosensitivity and eye pain from light. I've always had this symptom with ME and it would cause PEM if I were out far too long. I would constantly squint from being oversensitized...
