NICE guideline is robust and globally supported
"On 11th July, a new study was published in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry purporting to demonstrate flaws in the NICE ME/CFS guideline review process.
The World ME Alliance strongly rebuts these suggestions.

The cries for help are getting louder. And that’s a good sign
"The JNNP article is little more than a self-serving letter to a friendly editor, infused with special pleading and groupthink. It has no standing other than as a work of academic contrarianship.
It is a cry...

Many of them are keen on labelling ME/CFS as a functional condition, and many are keen on using CBT and physiotherapy as 'treatments' for functional conditions, so to have NICE show that the evidence base for CBT and GET for ME/CFS is severely lacking undermines their position.
Notably, at least at time of me posting this, there was nothing about this on the Science Media Centre's site, https://www.sciencemediacentre.org/working-with-us/for-journalists/roundups-for-journalists/

How does their membership criteria prevent them from potentially coproducing anything? That makes no sense to me, I'm not a member of the University of Edinburgh but I am part of the team that is coproducing DecodeME - you don't need to be in the same organisation to coproduce something.
Their criteria is
"Membership of BACME is open to UK-based healthcare professionals and researchers involved in the diagnosis and/or treatment of ME/CFS using clinically effective practice."
as shown here, https://bacme.info/join/
If you meet that criteria then you have grounds to be...

Frustrating that when the article is talking about UK ME/CFS research that DecodeME isn't mentioned (although I may be slightly biased there) and surprising that they don't talk about Invest in ME's efforts that are looking at the gut microbiome.
Not sure why they aren't referencing the newer guideline,
"NICE published guidelines in 2007 to help quantify fatigue severity in the context of ME/CFS."
Key points
According to recent data from the US Census Bureau and CDCs National Center for Health Statistics, 7.5% or one in 13 patients diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reported long-term symptoms.
Because of the varied possible etiologies causing post-acute sequelae of...

John Pring from Disability News Service is asking on Twitter,
"Many of you will know of the notorious 'Malingering and illness deception’ conference held in Woodstock, near Oxford, in November 2001, which was funded by DWP. Does anyone know the name of the hotel where the conference took place?"
Abstract
Background: Functional neurological disorders (FND) lead to increased care requirements and costs, negatively impacting healthcare budgets. Healthcare expenditure in FND has escalated beyond other neurologic disorders during the past decade.
Objectives: To assess inpatient costs in...
