Targeting persistent fatigue ... in adolescents and young adults with a fatigue syndrome or rheumatic condition... 2023 Vroegindeweij et al

Not surprising that the FITNET authors are still hyping CBT as effective eventhough it's a sinking ship. Quite painful to read. They're also ignoring this report where children with ME (ICC) rated their experience with CBT/GET. Maybe interesting for @dave30th to write about as well? Survey...

Rapamycin Pilot Treatment Trial for ME/CFS

We can only hope that this "trial" will give them more insights in the underlying pathophysiology. I admire them for trying although the setup doesn't look that promising.

Physical exertion worsens symptoms in patients with post-COVID condition : Post-exertional malaise in patients with post-COVID condition

Yeah, I agree. I understand what they're saying. It might be true that the push crash cycle worsens the capacity but a reduction is always there. I'm not totally comfortable with their description. On a positive note, it will atleast warn HCP not to push and therfore crash people.

Physical exertion worsens symptoms in patients with post-COVID condition : Post-exertional malaise in patients with post-COVID condition

Thanks. Do criticize it. It will be good for a new project or paper. I personally was a bit on the fence about this sentence. It was not part of the Dutch version. "For those post-COVID condition patients exhibiting PEM, the reduction in physical capacity is likely more a result of the...

Physical exertion worsens symptoms in patients with post-COVID condition : Post-exertional malaise in patients with post-COVID condition

This article was first published in Dutch for a journal of rehabilitation physicians. I was asked to correct the text. I didn't comment on the biomedical part. It's not perfect as not everything I adviced was added (which I think was due to a limited amount of words they were allowed to use) and...

Physical exertion worsens symptoms in patients with post-COVID condition : Post-exertional malaise in patients with post-COVID condition

"Patients with post-COVID condition suffer from fatigue, limited exercise capacity, and post-exertional malaise. Post-exertional malaise is the worsening of symptoms after physical or mental exertion, which reduces the efficacy of most forms of rehabilitation. This article presents the current...

Any examples of flawed Dutch studies similar to the Pace Trial?

I already see 2 papers published here. One about the Qure study and one CORPUS. There's also FITNET that even the PACE-trial authors themselves criticized. https://www.mdpi.com/2076-328X/7/3/52

The LIFT trial (OMF) - Pyridostigmine (mestinon) and Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)

While I'm not excited about these drugs perse. My response wasn't great; mestinon some improvements but minor and LDN side effects galore and messed up my sleep for a long time. Actually I am not sure it ever recovered, but it could give us some more answers. However the hyping is what gets to...

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

After my complaints Cort now added this to the blog. Still making it sound a lot better than what it is, but a slight improvement I guess... "Please note, though, that while there have been some remarkable recoveries, some people have not done well at all with surgery, and some people have had...

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

Not sure if this is the right thread but Cort Johnson posted a blog about CCI with Kaufman and Ruhoy. It's awful! Really awful. Full statements for which we have no evidence whatsoever. It's so painful to read this stuff. How many more need to be harmed by these surgeries before mentioning that...

So what are your thoughts on this paper? It's hard for me to understand any of it really. Partly due to PEM and partly because it's way above my head anyways.
