So what Davenport et al say might be anaerobic metabolic abnormalities in pwME/CFS might still be normal anaerobic metabolism for very inactive people?
Because of this study that found that the actual physical activity of pwME/CFS is lower than sedentary controls, I have what might be a dumb question:
Does activity levels affect the anaerobic metabolism of healthy people?
And do we know how that translates to very low activity levels - could...
Online recruitment and self-report so I don’t think the data is of much value.
Their reporting is «interesting»:
It’s striking that they don’t mention how physios, rehab and psychologists weren’t perceived as useful by most.
Sure, it’s the framework that’s influencing it and not reality!
A shame it’s paywalled..
If the data is robust, this would mean that all of the «sedentary controls» would have to be reconsidered, and some of the observed differences might still be caused by the lower activity levels.
We need more tracking like this long term.
In a new update (by the association) the health department say that they have needed more time to finalise the draft and preparing the publication of the public hearing.
They also say that a small group (presumably two or more) have withdrawn from the working group (the working group made no...
Unless the ME/CFS and LC associations have completely blindsided the patients and not told anyone that they are dissenting, the only other option is that it’s the BPS folks. That would be good news.
Edit: if they don’t know how it is, it can’t be the ME association.
This info should have been...
In theory, probably, but the author doesn’t seem to spend any time deliberating to what extent we can know if the interventions are beneficial to the patient, and if we have sufficient evidence of benefit for the interventions that are normally used.
No traces of covid:
They mention your concern, @forestglip, but seem to ignore it in the rest of the text.
It doesn’t seem to dawn on them that pwLC don’t need improved physical fitness, they need less symptoms in general. They keep going on and on about all of these benefits of exercise, but...
I’m reminded yet again of my belief that little good will come from trying to recruit people with a BPS foundation because for them to not cause harm, they would have to unlearn all of their ground truths. That is such a monumental task that it will very rarely be achieved, and it’s guaranteed...
From her response about the threshold babble:
I think it’s fair to say that this is what happens when people with no clue about medicine tries their hand at it. Ugh..
