'Unrest' now in top 15 for documentary film Oscars

Oh, I hope it gets through to the end. That would be wonderful news!

Involuntary movements: Seizures, tremors, tics, twitches, myoclonus

@Wonko your post kind of reminds me that I used to get twitching in the face, and also sometimes after reading a bigger, heavier book. My hand would twitch all night, which could interfere with sleep. Haven't had facial twitching for ages.

Keeping Up Appearances - How to look good while feeling ill

I get dressed every day, but I'm probably at a higher level of functioning that some others who are mostly confined to the house.

    Osteoporosis (bone loss)

@Sly Saint - that's interesting. I used to try and get exercise whenever I could because of the potential risk of osteoporosis but I've not been able to do as much in the last decade. My mother is very fond of prunes. Maybe I should nab some. ;)

    Do you have throat problems?

I think I once tried a medicine for this, but I didn't persist with it. I have wondered about acid reflux. What I eat seems to make it better or worse.

    Things that brighten your day

My laptop is my lifeline! It's hooked up in the bedroom via ethernet cable, which is more reliable than wireless anyway.

    Things that brighten your day

@Trish - I find the Amazon Fire TV stick very good, but since I spend most of my time in the bedroom, where I can't get a good wireless signal, I tend not to watch it too much. When I do, I go on binges lasting a few days. Then I retreat back to the bedroom! I think my cat, Luna, is the...

    Things that brighten your day

When you're either wholly or partially housebound, or not able to go too far from home, you might find the smallest things make your day worthwhile. Maybe it's the garden outside, or the birds you see from the window. Maybe it's a radio station you like to listen to, or your cat or dog, or...

Keeping Up Appearances - How to look good while feeling ill

Going to start with my own suggestion - shave your hair off! Yes, why bother with brushing it at all. Just get rid of it. You'll never have a hair out of place, because you have no hair, or at least, nothing long enough to get messed up. Back in June I bought a pair of clippers for £20...

Keeping Up Appearances - How to look good while feeling ill

Okay, so some of us might be a lost cause around here when it comes to trying to look good while feeling awful (;);)), but some ME sufferers seem to pull it off. However this is not just about clothes, or makeup (which might be more suitable for those with sensitive skin), it's also about...

Useful gadgets that make life easier for MEcfs patients and carers

I had one of those, but it had some kind of fault. Most people seemed to be okay with that model, but there were consistent reports from some buyers of the signal dropping. So I kept getting cut off. Need to get another one. I love my Alexa - tells me the weather, the time in the middle of the...

Useful gadgets that make life easier for MEcfs patients and carers

I'm so used to my laptop for everything, that I wasn't sure how I'd get on with a tablet, however I got an Amazon Fire 7 this week. Haven't really had a chance to try it out because I get a terrible wireless reception in the bedroom. I'm going to have to do something about that. I run my laptop...

Involuntary movements: Seizures, tremors, tics, twitches, myoclonus

I'm wondering what the prevalence of seizure and tremor type symptoms is among board members. I would include inability to take stimulants because of tremor or other similar side effects. Perhaps you've had symptoms like this as a consequence of the side effects of prescription drugs. I pretty...

    Burning ankle?

I've not had this symptom. Though sometimes I forget symptoms I haven't had in a while.

    Do you have throat problems?

I should have said that I was initially diagnosed with tonsillitis. It was caused by a virus going around at the time (which led to PVS and ME). I got a second bout of tonsillitis four years later, and seemed to get shooting pains in my chest after that. The cough started about four and a half...

Useful gadgets that make life easier for MEcfs patients and carers

I'd love a robot vacuum cleaner. I had one of those pulse oximeters, but it stopped working after about a day, so I sent it back. That was a few years ago. Never got a replacement.

Useful gadgets that make life easier for MEcfs patients and carers

Ah, so that's why my gran, who had a hiatus hernia, had one of those pillows. Never gave it any thought. I have the top of my bed on blocks because of something I read online about orthostatic issues. Not these links, but they are on the same topic...

Useful gadgets that make life easier for MEcfs patients and carers

Have you bought something - whether a device or other product - which has helped you in some way as an ME patient? There are obvious things like pill cutters or heart rate monitors, but there might also be other things that help with household tasks or day to day chores. Or even with symptoms -...
