UK - NHS England online tool and clinics for long Covid.

Does anyone know how this document came to be, and who authored it/in what kind of a role? It's frankly scary to read it as someone with LC in the UK, even though I know the history.

    The IDO2 tryptophan trap hypothesis

Exactly! Will be a step forward either way.

Sadly we seem to have attended the same undergraduate institution. Was not pleased to discover this

    The IDO2 tryptophan trap hypothesis

I look forward to finding out whether there is anything in the IDO2 stuff; it seems that we are likely to get answers about this, at least. You can't say that about much in this area!

    Symptoms of Covid-19

"These rising case numbers are probably rooted in the higher rate of transmission and fatigue around social distancing." Ah, the social distancing "fatigue" again. "Probably"!

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

I guess I was just thinking that I do not go out (I can't, really). I realize that eventually I may have to in some kind of emergency. I do not see anyone except my masked family occasionally who help out when I need it. I doubt I have much protection from having had covid. I would like to feel...

Exploratory open label, randomised study of acetyl- and propionylcarnitine in CFS, 2004, Vermeulen and Scholte

Yes, sorry I may have missed something but I didn't understand this - why was the treatment stopped/withdrawn - were effects hypothesised to be permanent? If so, why? Seems a different question as to whether the treatment works.

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

Good luck to all and sending love xx I still have not had my shot, as I am housebound anyway and don't feel I have the extra leeway for a negative reaction. I am barely managing (am now severe) after getting suspected covid last March. I am thinking about reaching out to my GP for advice, but...

Exploratory open label, randomised study of acetyl- and propionylcarnitine in CFS, 2004, Vermeulen and Scholte

Bizarre study design. If this was the only follow-up, how useful is this data?

Post-COVID-19 Syndrome and the Potential Benefits of Exercise, 2021, Jimeno-Almazán et al

It's genuinely sad to me that many people seem not to have much of an interest in the welfare of patients/"clients", and that this is somewhat taken as a given.

Post-COVID-19 Syndrome and the Potential Benefits of Exercise, 2021, Jimeno-Almazán et al

Horrible paper. What is going on? "There is not a defined evolution pattern of the symptoms and patients usually respond to different stimuli (mainly physical or mental activity and stress)." So they're not getting worse from exercise, then?

Did you get a response? I really think it's worth doing to write to the CMO now about this "exercise is good for all illnesses" stuff. I didn't know he'd made a claim like this in one of the press conferences. Which one was it/what did he say? That is disappointing. I was hoping he was more...

Paul Garner on Long Covid and ME/CFS - BMJ articles and other media.

I think he is sowing confusion and encouraging the uncritical acceptance of bullshit - particularly among people who may also be inclined to attribute their own long covid recoveries to positive thinking or strength of character. Unfortunately, this is what many want to believe. He is not...

This is what I was thinking. Little stickers on the globe - little flags - or something.

According to his own account he rested for quite a while at the beginning of his illness. He rested to the point of developing a "fear of exercise". Why is this not a story about an importance of getting adequate rest early in the illness? The idea that bed rest and convalescence are needed for...

I really need to know if he's still planning teaching that course on "evidence synthesis" that was listed on his university webpage the last time I checked. How does this approach fit in?

I haven't been able to watch. Is that globe for demonstration purposes? Does he use it to explain his scuba diving trip to Grenada last year? Timeline could certainly use clearing up.
