    Guardian Article on NICE pause

"Characterized by debilitating pain and fatigue" (from the piece) is not true - has anyone specifically engaged Grover on this point?

    Guardian Article on NICE pause

My understanding is that it's only certain members though, and it's possible to see the obvious COI of most of her sources. It's also possible to try to put the CBT/GET issue in context and see why this may have be happening politically. But yes - where is everyone? (I know some people are on...

    Guardian Article on NICE pause

Completely agree but I am just despairing basically. Also she is in the position not to be a "newcomer" at all, as this issue with PEM and post-viral conditions has been going on with long covid as well throughout the pandemic. I am disturbed that someone covering these matters under the banner...

    Guardian Article on NICE pause

The author is a "science" correspondent. It is pretty standard in good science coverage that you do not "both sides" the science, whereas that appears to be how the piece was constructed, as a "debate" or "row". There is also a climate change "debate" and a "debate" over whether vaccination is...

    Guardian Article on NICE pause

The guidance has not been withdrawn. How can a supposedly serious publication continue to publish articles on important matters in which the basic facts are misstated? A lack of understanding of what has actually happened permeates this whole piece in addition to the other problems and...

    UK genetic study on autism

I will try to find something more than just what I was reading about "Cure Autism Now"/disease model type language materials etc and if I find anything good I'll post it here. I have not been that active either; it's been quite depressing lately with the electric shock story. :(

    UK genetic study on autism

Responding to a deleted post. There is some misunderstanding of the nature of autism. It is not a disease. This project states that it does not want to "cure" autism; they are very clear about it in their materials. They are mainly looking into comorbidities it seems and a bunch of other stuff...

    UK genetic study on autism

I was also more worried about the involvement of Geschwind than Baron-Cohen in many ways. He could have picked any number of people to do a study with, but this person?? I was also concerned about the person who listed something about the genetics of "empathy" in their interests. Baron-Cohen...

    UK genetic study on autism

I am worried about this study, the people involved, and information I can find about the players. The aims of the study are not well articulated and the website of the project is very worrying. I am afraid I don't have the energy to write a detailed comment right now but there are a lot of...

United Kingdom: Bath paediatric CFS/Fatigue clinic - Esther Crawley; Phil Hammond

He seems determined to sow as much confusion as possible and then preach kindness and plead his own ignorance. It's presumably a familiar routine. I am honestly disgusted, although I should be used to it by now. Frankly reminds me of a homeopathic doctor I once saw (I couldn't really figure out...

United Kingdom: Bath paediatric CFS/Fatigue clinic - Esther Crawley; Phil Hammond

I am glad you brought up the article as I had to give up as someone defended him He will probably claim he is being abused himself by being accused of promoting abuse. That's how these things seem to go. I have blocked him now. I wonder if he is going to carry this on all day.

I am thinking of blocking him so he can't see my tweets easily to use as points to "take into consideration" and in his bad faith PR campaign.

I thought he already said they should be published. Putting things in the form of a question is a known propaganda technique so I don't want to respond to it to draw attention.

I really feel there should be some pushback from organizations as he was in effect wilfully misrepresenting the position with regard to for example testing for ME/CFS, and also saying that maybe we should say mild ME is not ME. He kept repeating these points manifestly in bad faith. The...

United Kingdom: Bath paediatric CFS/Fatigue clinic - Esther Crawley; Phil Hammond

If this was not the case there was no way he would have spent Sunday on twitter especially not with the substance of what was said. I hope people who are otherwise allies in this can be alerted to his behaviour and motivations. It's obvious at this point but I didn't get the sense that people...

He is obviously doing it on purpose and so I did not want to keep replying, but did keep doing so in case someone looked at it with any scientific background or experience to be able to see that what he is doing goes against good practice and is completely unscientific. I am concerned by the...

I agree. I am not sure he is onto a winner with his multiple tweets trying to say that the milder ME patients that he wants to "treat" need to be considered to have a different illness. I am hopeful that this will sound wrong to medics. Or we really have some serious problems.

My thoughts exactly. Dampener on my weekend, that's for sure.

He seems worse than clueless. His most recent tweets seem very dangerous to me. I am afraid he does know what he is doing.

I have tried not to do too many tweets at him as I don't want it to be twisted, but he seems determined to carry on and has been tweeting misinformation all day. Why? He seems to be pushing an agenda pretty hard. He just claimed "compassion" and "kindness" to the patients and then ignored the...
