Brand new here, hashimoto, poly cystic ovary syndrome and ME

Hi Aquarian1 I also got the 2 for 1 deal in chronic illnesses multiple times. I often hear Hashi being associated with gyn issues..I have Hashi and endometriosis. I'm not familiar with PCOS though, is there anything to do about it? (Edit: As in treatment)

News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

Yes it's like seeing your own tragedy being reenacted on public display and like in a nightmare patients are screaming but remain unheard. It feels so surreal to me.

News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

What about other countries, have there been any official recommendations about what long haulers should do? Nothing in Germany so far, but we didnt have many cases. Prof. Scheibenbogen from Charité in some interviews has warned about not pushing through post covid symptoms but that's it.

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

As in many countries there seems to be a divide in society getting deeper pushed by a probably small yet loud minority. The biggest initiative is based in my hometown (seems like we Swabians love to protest). I see people wearing shirts with their logo on now and keep extra distance bc they...

Sensations of fizzing or buzzing, or paraesthesia in limbs

I don't have that in my limbs but sometimes in the middle (Solar Plexus?) - it feels like as if I was held to a giant tuning fork. So more like a humming vibration. Have never mentined it to any doc either, it's a "crazyness" symptom.

‘Disgusting’ study rating attractiveness of women with endometriosis retracted by medical journal (2020)

Forget asking about symptoms or doing medical examinations - eye measure hip to waist ratio and creepily ask your young patient about first intercourse. There you got your diagnosis.

‘Disgusting’ study rating attractiveness of women with endometriosis retracted by medical journal (2020)

Wow, this is really cringey and shows the long history of misogony in this illness.. I remember having come across hypotheses that connected endometriosis to attractiveness due to higher estrogen levels (estrogen is "feeding" endo). But there's no proof at all and it doesn't add any value to...

BPS attempts at psychologizing Long Covid

In general, how many people/what percentage of e.g. post Covid patients would it need for a BPS approach to be dismissed? We know that over decades there were millions getting ill post viral, but it was from different viruses over time and not enough attention. Now with Covid, it's ONE virus...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Numbers in Germany are spiking again and people are protesting against lockdown rules. Yesterday was most likely the hottest day of the year...I wish that I could go protest for the matters important to me. I can't help but to envy their health and condemn their recklessness. Health privilege...

    Sleeping in hot weather

I use a cooling mat for dogs & fans & an air cooler (where you put cold water and ice cubes in a container at the back). And an ice pack for the head. For me, personally, Mirtazapin, Vivinox (antihistamine) and Paracetamol help me sleep better (no recommensation, just my experience)

    Who is Simon Wessely?

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I can't find it. Do people like SW know they're wrong and do what they do anyway or do they believe in their own delusion against all evidence? In general, not referring to anyone specific: Knowing/being aware/having a sense of reality or not makes...

It's a great article, and finally with a good picture (not some tired yuppie in front of a laptop.

News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

I've watched his video yesterday and it made me cringe a little. Statistically, most post viral fatigue patients recover though (in general, for Corona we don't know yet), so there is reason to be hopeful/optimistic. I just hope it won't end up being people that have recovered from a self...

    Judy Mikovits

I believed her xmrv findings and I still kind of do. I saw her at a conference in 2010 and found her to be very charismatic, down to earth and..just authentic. She gave me a lot of hope, it was just my 2nd yr of illness. Of course that's just a subjective impression and not based on any...

    Judy Mikovits

John Oliver is mentioning her in his segment on conspiracy theories. He's talking about her arrest, thankfully never mentions on what she was working on back then though.

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

About post Covid, no mentioning of "ME" or "CFS" though so I post it here Over half of coronavirus patients in Spain have developed neurological problems, studies show New research indicates that Covid-19 is causing a wide range of disorders in the nervous system and may be directly attacking...

News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

From a major German news outlet, Spiegel (Translation deepl); it links to an older, pretty well written article on ME, too. "In addition, researchers assume that in individual cases viral infections can trigger a so-called chronic fatigue syndrome, in which a misdirected immune response can...

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

I don't hear about that much anymore..From what I remember the major transmissions are now believed to be happening through droplets/aerosols. Not contact infection (door knobs etc.). I would still think it's important though, too.
