I like it! Well-said @Keela Too (But don't hope to tease emotions where none are...)

New German guideline for ME published today

Wow, thank you @Joh for checking, very valuable! I don't think these statements were in there before. I remember it sounded pretty much like "Evidence is clear - CFS is psychological, only a minor problem, and CBT/GET help". It seems this has been relativized to "it's our opinion". It's not...

    Paper:Psychiatry As Social Control

@Sid, you give examples of biochemical alterations that lead to changes in the human, amongst others behavioral changes. All these are not examples of "mental illness" as defined by psychiatry (or areas of psychology). It's only that psychiatry adopted them in the first place (as so many unknown...

Interesting (on p. 40 of the guideline), their own reason for being "selective":

New German guideline for ME published today

I've just read it. This is really a great success. It's very important. Please German people with ME, give a chance the German Association.

New German guideline for ME published today

I would leave an organization instantly if something like this censure happened. We could need money for real fights before courts, processes that might benefit many people with ME.

New German guideline for ME published today

I simply cannot understand how members don't leave this organization. Everytime there comes a new guideline about tiredness Fatigatio behaves in the same manner - disgraceful! Shame!

    Paper:Psychiatry As Social Control

There are good reasons for it being a social construct. What are the good reasons that mental illness is real, in the sense as it is defined by psychiatry? There is no question about the existence of odd or strange people, of people that have physical illnesses that lead to mental behavior...

Merryn Crofts - media and inquest

What "relevant" is decides a doctor, and in my experience, symptoms/findings are often classified as irrelevant. My experience is also that only the most basic tests are performed - no checks for small fiber neuropathy e.g., only rudimentary ENG, but claiming everything is perfect with the...

    Anti-convulsants - Pregabalin and Gabapentin

In case of epilepsy the dosage is somewhere around 150-300mg I was told. With Pregabalin, the pain is ok. But I reduced to 12,5mg. I will make a brake tomorrow and then I'll see if the pain is gone or at least tolerable. A very clear statement. :)

    Paper:Psychiatry As Social Control

I don't understand something: Why are negative thoughts linked to "anti-psychiatry"? The organizations I know of don't work for the abolotion of psychiatry, they want the abolition of forced psychiatry that uses means of torture to break people and which functions as a kind of "vassal" for...

    Paper:Psychiatry As Social Control

Just cruel: I think this shows the kernel of psychiatry as an institution. Wouldn't it be great if this was replaced by understanding, empathy and a certain amount of love, people/therapists who really want to help people with their issues in life (that may have different origins)?

UN Meeting on Human Rights in Mental Health: A Response

I totally agree with you, @alktipping. I simply don't know what we can do, only combine our strengths and say out loud what's going on. So many people seem to want to stick to the concept of "mental illness" which I can perfectly understand. I hear people say that they are afraid of "strange...

    Anti-convulsants - Pregabalin and Gabapentin

Hi @NelliePledge, so you are not so positive about Pregablin, too. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! 150mg for neuropathic pain is pretty high, isn't it? My GP told me it's unisono that 25-50mg are used, but there are certainly country differences. I think it is a good...

Publications that show ME is biological

I can just speak from my own impression and experience in my family. Here I see it as progressive. But I am not sure there is any research about that. Does anybody have at hand the Michael Sharpe quote where he says PACE was not supposed to focus on ME/CFS but on chronic fatigue (which has an F...
