Yeah its like the chicken or the egg.
Which came first can be argued in many different ways.
The fnd guys say that fnd causes structural changes how can the argue that when the whole ideal of conversion is unobservable and almost untestable.
Is the latest trend in fnd letting the cat out of the bag and telling the truth about fnd.
Reminds me of the post
Challenges to the Diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder: Feigning, Intentionality, and Responsibility 2022 Mason
Isn't one of major flaws in the fnd arguement that lumping many conditions under one roof with just one treatment option pyshc and physio.
Plus there is non exsistance of pathophysiological only a presumption that that the body is coverting thoughts and emotions into physical synptoms
As redfox said most doctors are clueless.
Teasing functional syndromes from specific groups of people tells you how rotten to the core medicine is with psychosomatics and have given up on healing peiple.
Could it be autistix people may have slight biological differences that may be undetctable
Or maybe they are making it up along the way because they have no knowledge only beliefs. So they continue in cirlces and no one is brave enough to question their beliefs or ideals. We see it numerous time in academic papers where peer reviews are just rubber stamps
So the whole fnd ideology is useless and very harmful when missed conditions are present. The obvious logical explanation is fnd is not a proper condition at all but in the minds of the doctor. So the whole core of medicine is stinking from the inside out.
We need a revolution from education to...
Prion disease is another that can be misdiagnosed as conversion disorder if work up is not thorough enough.

Maybe neurologists are gullible to pyschiatry and their pseudo-science psychosomatic disorders.
They should grow a backbone and do some good research to look for biological causes and what follows would be a treatment based on the causes
Aren't neurological diseases some of the hardest diseases to be diagnosed.
FND is a way for the lazy doctor when given limited time, resources infalible technology.
I suppose we will never find out because doctors want to protect their image and stature. Plus you may have to a have long period of time to v track patients and medical records can be fractured
