I'm grateful for the analysis provided above. From the outside (and having no knowledge) it seems to be very difficult to test the hypothesis - perhaps the GWAS (Chris Ponting) study will provide some supporting evidence and clues re how to test the hypothesis.

Forgotten the name of the (psychology) academic but he pointed out the mismatch between the support given to the (PACE) control group and the group who received the intervention (they had multiple times the number of interactions). So there really wasn't a control group.

Haven't checked but the study fell short of the intended number of participants ---- Cort did an article some time ago (I think he was also a participant) and I think he dealt with the issue of those misdiagnosed/removed from the study --- where they replaced etc.

Nailed it --- money! Yip these journals don't give a s--t about those desperate to see the outcome of this study. However, I think someone mentioned to me that they were coming under pressure to speed up the publication of some high profile Covid studies --- hopefully the same thing can happen...

I've been told (but perhaps haven't fully understood) that traditional/established medical journals don't publish if there's been a pre-print - might have got that wrong though.

As I think others have pointed out, apparently if Nath publishes a pre-print then the high profile medical journals will not publish the paper - i.e. if you want to publish in a major medical journal then no pre-print.

Anyone know how long we may have to wait? I'm wondering if he's found that other diseases are misdiagnosed as ME/CFS? If he has made significant progress, and given that he's stated that "many cases of Long COVID strongly resemble ME/CFS"*, surely Nath deserves more funding from NIH & indeed...
