K Pressin: new treatment for ME CFS(?) - video Dr Derek Enlander (25 June 2019)

I'm a bit new to this so having dug a bit further there's a bit of history, taken from here. Looks like the latest in a long line of similar 'treatments'. Haven't looked at any of the papers that are referenced. "Dr. Enlander Dr. Enlander used Kutapressin for approximately 12 years until...

K Pressin: new treatment for ME CFS(?) - video Dr Derek Enlander (25 June 2019)

There's virtually no web presence for K-Pressin. All I could find was this thread and this trade mark information, which shows it was raised in Feb this year. https://trademark.trademarkia.com/k-pressin-88296207.html

If only I was in that age bracket! Add on 20yrs and I would just squeak inside the top bracket. :nailbiting:

@DokaGirl thanks! Some reading to do there. :)

    'Recovery' statistics

I've nothing to add but am also interested. I suspect the problem with any data will be the definitions of ME in the first place, coupled with the subjective nature of what recovery is to each individual. Will watch with interest though!

USA: NIH National Institutes of Health news - latest ME/CFS webinar 14 Jan 2025

I work in an engineering field for a large European company. When I joined (20yrs ago) the ratio of men to women engineers was heavily biased, as you might expect. The approach that has been taken in the intervening years is the correct one, in my view, in that the women who were in the...

Researcher Interactions Patient Representative Reports from Dr Karl Morten's collaborative group, Oxford, UK

This is an interesting thread. In the real world I have experience of applying for research funding for engineering technology research. The overall budgets are a bit less than those described here (<£500k) however a key part (in my area) has always been understanding the interests of the...

Carol Monaghan asking for patient experiences with UK benefit assessments

Merged thread On the #MEAction SW Facebook group a post by Carol has been shared. I couldn't work out how to link to it directly, so have cut and pasted the text below. I thought that the community on here could probably give some useful feedback, based on some of the recent threads. I...

Comprehensive stool test and Regenerus Lab

You're right, in that Smartnutrition are taking a slice of what you pay for the test to be performed. But if that is what the OP wants then they are a potential provider. As to whether there is benefit in all the tests that they (Genova Diagnostics) market I don't know. Some appear to be the...

Comprehensive stool test and Regenerus Lab

I've not longed at the regenerus site so am not making a comparison. I used this company: https://smartnutrition.co.uk My understanding is that the lab they use (Genova Diagnostics) is reputable, although I'm prepared to be corrected! Going via smart nutrition meant I didn't need a gp referral...

HOMELESS: How AMMES is Keeping People with ME in their Homes

It's hard enough to cope with ME full stop. I cannot comprehend having to also contend with being homeless. What an awful situation to be in. :(

    Efficacy of supplements

The only longterm supplement I've used (am using) is Vit D as the GP blood tests showed I was deficient. At my level of supplementation I'm now in the expected range. I was interested in the ME Association advice on supplements, and whether research had built on that at all. Particularly with...

    Efficacy of supplements

This relapse has got me looking into dietary supplements again, partly spurred on by the ME Association pamphlets on them. These make reference to some scientific studies but they appear quite out of date (old references). Whilst looking for papers that might report on more recent studies I...

    Use of antidepressants for/with ME/CFS?

@Arnie Pye the Dr in question is the most unsympathetic and unempathic GP I've ever met. Fortunately, whilst he's 'my' GP I can make appointments with others at the practice and have found one who is most definitely on my side and isn't bought into the BPS cult.

    Use of antidepressants for/with ME/CFS?

Just as a quick update, I stuck with the amitripi-wotsit for another week and then took myself off it. My sleep then got worse and I realised that a lot of the pain in my legs and arms had gone away whilst I was on it. My HR hasn't dropped so it wasn't causing that. I'm giving it a few weeks...

UK Teach Primary Magazine: 'A heavy weight to carry' by Claire Tripp, 2019

I'll keep my eyes peeled for that then as my wife is a secondary teacher. I'll ask if she can circulate it to her colleagues as well. Thanks.
