Carol Monaghan granted a Backbench debate (UK Parliament) Thursday 24th January 2019

Some Google-fu has led me to conclude that it will be 3 hours. Now that I am looking at the parliament website correctly (thanks @Esther12), I think a 2pm start is a safe bet. An adjournment debate (the only business remaining after our spot) is typically half an hour and Parliament usually...

Carol Monaghan granted a Backbench debate (UK Parliament) Thursday 24th January 2019

MEA says it is a 2pm. https://www.meassociation.org.uk/2019/01/invite-your-mp-parliamentary-debate/ Edit: Though that is not reflected in the timetable on the Parliament website, which still has it as sometime vaguely in the morning...

UK Dec 2018 - £40 million personalised support package for long-term unemployed disabled people launched

400 quid per person for 21 months of support? Doesn't sound particularly realistic. Edit: Actually 4000. My brain skipped a 0.

    Pulsatile Tinnitus

I have had this for years. I told my GP and also a neurologist about it, but they wouldn't even believe that I have it. I don't know why i even bother speaking to these people.

Really sorry, Keela. Someone on Phoenix Rising beat you to the punch :( I didn't think it would go that quickly.

Persistent fatigue induced by interferon-alpha: A novel, inflammation-based, proxy model of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, 2018, Pariante et al

As others have expressed, I do not understand the hype here. However, my eye was drawn to this, which is probably the most interesting thing and not spoken about in the papers: More support for the metabolic trap hypothesis?

    Ketogenic diet

@Kafka great! That is awesome to hear. I calibrated my device and tested again. I got more or less the same results as the first time, indicating high ketosis. I guess i just have good metabolic flexibility. I'll keep going and see if that ketosis deepens or what.

    Ketogenic diet

Haha okay. I was seriously baffled for a moment there. Anyway, i have since calibrated the monitoring device i bought, which i didn't do prior to my initial test. I will test again later to see if the results still agree. Definitely seems odd to have happened so quickly! And congrats on the...

    Ketogenic diet

Thanks Kafka. That is a little confusing. When you say my keto readings, do you mean my GKI? The GKI scale mentioned at the beginning of this thread and also elsewhere online indicates a much broader scale, all the way up to 9. Where did you get that 0.6 figure from? Edit: Sorry, just realised...

    Ketogenic diet

I started a keto diet two days ago. I have just received my keto blood testing kit. My blood glucose measurement is 4.7 mmol and my ketones measure 2.1 mmol. That gives me an HKI of 2.2, putting me in "high ketosis". I am quite surprised it has happened so quickly. I have had some carb...

Follow-up actions from 21 June Westminster debate - thank the MPs, donate to UK #MEAction

I emailed my MP asking her to attend, however it was only the day before so I acknowledged that she would be unlikely due to her busy schedule. She replied with a very positive and personalised email stating that she had heard many harrowing stories from others in the constituency. She cited...

Fatigue is associated with altered monitoring and preparation of physical effort in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (2018) van der Meer et al

Julia Newton at Newcastle University has done that. She took muscle cultures from patients and controls then subjected them to continued electrical stimulation and measured the response. Unsurprisingly, there was significant differences between patients and controls...
