#MEAction: Toxic Masculinity Made my ME Much More Punishing

@Trish The way I am looking at it is, if I didn't have CFS and I came across MEAction how would it affect my opinion on ME? For me, personally, I would see Identity politics being brought up often, I don't like this brand of politics and see it as scientifically wrong for the most part. I would...

#MEAction: Toxic Masculinity Made my ME Much More Punishing

Whilst it is true that it will connect well with a certain audience, it will also put another audience right off. If MEAction is okay with adding politics to there opinion pieces then that is there choice however I think it damages and obfuscates the core message of ME which is the fact that it...

#MEAction: Toxic Masculinity Made my ME Much More Punishing

I don't like this kind of content at all. I don't think mixing feminism and ME is productive to ME advocacy.

Metabolism reprogrammed by the nitric oxide signalling molecule

@Michelle You are right about the gastropareses. In fact that is the reason I dont tolerate fats well. However the mechanism is differen't. As far as I am aware that actual metabolism of fat isn't a problem in as many people with CFS as is carb metabolism.

Metabolism reprogrammed by the nitric oxide signalling molecule

@Hutan I do think there is a problem with blood getting places based on red cell deformity and my symptoms of pounding heart, feeling like it has to work harder to get the blood where it needs to be. Having said this though, fat needs more oxygen to burn than carbs. So if we where experiencing...

Blood flow problem in left arm ?

@Wonko Interesting, I noticed an improvement with mirtazapine (antihistamine) and didn't experience the real bad heart attack like stuff ever since taking it. Although I did still have the pins and needles and pinching etc.

Metabolism reprogrammed by the nitric oxide signalling molecule

@Hutan Very interesting. So we could speculate that we probably don't have much problems with ischaemia as this lack of oxygen would also result in problems with fat metabolism. Quite a few people with CFS/POTS do ok on fats but bad on carbs. So what would be causing the NO that then results in...

Blood flow problem in left arm ?

I think there is a high chance it is CFS/Dysautonomia related. When I was at my worst I would get pins and needles in my extremities all the time, particularly my left arm. I would also get aching and pinching in my left arm veins/arteries. I had to be very careful how I slept. I have also had...

    Ketogenic diet

@Arnie Pye Yeah, I think dysautonomia and diabetes are linked. I have tested my BG after very high carb meals 200g, very low fat / protein, and sometimes it enters the diabetic range and stays in for a while, other times it doesn't go in at all. Bare in mind that the diabetic range is set for...

    Ketogenic diet

Yeah, I was keto for around 6-7 weeks maybe, including a stint of carnivore. It helped my heart pounding after eating (as this is triggered by carbs) but my symptoms where still similar otherwise including my gastroparesis which made it a bit more difficult. I also started re messing around...

David Systrom, researcher, Brigham and Women's Hospital, USA

@Ryan31337 Hey Ryan, I think I may have asked you this before but, who are you seeing and is it on the NHS? I remember you saying you received good service in London and I thought that I may have been referred to the same clinic as you but it turned out to be a different, and so far pretty...

Immunoadsorption to remove ß2 adrenergic receptor antibodies in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome CFS/ME (2018) Scheibenbogen et al

I am sure I have asked you something similar before but do you think this can happen in the muscarinic antibodies as well? @Jonathan Edwards What I mean is, I have done the cell trend antibodies test for B1&2 M1-5. All came back very low except M3&4 (like the study showed) which was just below...

    Ketogenic diet

Could also just be your liver filling up with glycogen. These numbers are probably wrong but your liver can store 100g glucose. On ketosis it will be around 0g. So if you ate 100g carbs in the "healthy" diet on the first day, most of it will go to refiling glycogen. So perhaps the 2nd day you...

    Ketogenic diet

I have managed to settle into ketosis this time around. My BP was high for a few weeks and a few heart symptoms but it seems to have settled down a bit. I am eating less than half what I was eating before. I feel my POTS is more stable, less downward swings (after carb meals). I feel a little...

    Professor Michael Sharpe

I'm not sure but I think it's the Dunning kruger effect. You read an article in a newspaper that you are somewhat informed on and realise it's absolute trash and the journo doesn't know what he is talking about; Then you turn the next page and read an article that you don't know anything about...

Fast Company: Facebook deletes alternative health pages as the war on fake news escalates

Another reason I'm glad to have stopped using facebook. Who's to say old Zuckie thinks CFS being a physical disease is fake news. Or saturated fat being good for you is fake news. Or anything Zuck doesn't like is fake news. These handful of big companies have a monopoly on social media...

Dietary carbohydrate intake and mortality: a prospective cohort study (Lancet)

@Milo It depends on the individual, but I think it is worth it to recommend everyone to at least try ketosis or VLC and see if it helps or not. So I think that docs advice is good. Personally my heart pounding is far worse with carbs and several people on the forums have gotten great...

    Ketogenic diet

No but I wouldn't be worried about giving it a try. When I entered ketosis (usual in morning) and my POTS increased, all I need do is eat some carbs and wait 30-60mins and then I was back to normal.

    Ketogenic diet

@leokitten Yeah your right, I don't need 2000kcals. Especially keto I would be eating under since I have about 30kg above my old lean self, (think lot of this is water though). I tend to set myself the goal of 2000kcals because I tend to get sickly full and can easily go under. Interesting, I...

    Ketogenic diet

@Trish Good idea! @Keela Too Dem PUFAs tho. I guess I could attempt to make my own mayo (with blackjack and hookers) with butter, and eggs. Hmmm. @Sasha Did you have to build up to this or could you do it from the get go.
