3 day fasting to reset immune system

The first 7 days where dry fasting, so absolutely nothing, the next 23 days where with a glass or 2 of water. Some symptoms improved but this is basically because eating worsens symptoms for me. I felt horribly sick for the majority of the fast (nauseous, etc, not usual symptoms) and it took all...

3 day fasting to reset immune system

I did a 30 day fast years ago and my symptoms remained.

Pathogens associated with triggering ME/CFS - discussion thread

@Forbin I used to get tonsilitis yearly. The one that resulted in this was the worst I ever had, its possible it wasn't even tonsillitis but some over ENT infection thing (strep?). Interestingly enough I have never had tonsilitis again since becoming ill with this.

    Muscle AMP deaminase deficiency

Thanks. Maybe I am using it wrong but it came up with nothing when I entered the rsID. Is it true that certain SNPs are only checked for in newer / older versions? I put in AMPD1 and got a bunch of SNPs but none matching that ID.

    Muscle AMP deaminase deficiency

@ScottTriGuy You got a SNP number for that? I would like to check also.

A nanoelectronics-blood-based diagnostic biomarker for ME/CFS (2019) Esfandyarpour, Davis et al

Any ideas how long the process will take until I can get the test privately or go to my GP and ask for it? I should imagine a very long time, no?

    IDO2 gene mutations - SNPs

Somebody over on PR did a very low / zero tryp diet and if I remember correctly didn't notice any improvements however I think he said he did notice worsening with high tryp foods.

Eating improves exertion induced fatigue and symptoms of orthostatic intolerance

Does anyone know if eating sugar causes liver to release more glucose within 2 mins of eating? Either way for me, I get significantly worse after eating, whatever it is.

Is ME a metabolic problem or a signalling problem?

True but what I was thinking was if a cell is struggling to produce enough energy through mito would it not import more pyruvate such that this cell has a significantly higher level of pyruvate/lactate than a normal cell which could then lower the overall cytosol / mito pH because as you say...

Is ME a metabolic problem or a signalling problem?

@deleder2k I tried to get alcohol to work for me. If PDH is indeed inhibited in ME then you could supply sufficient acetyl CoA through ethanol. However even very small amounts made me feel like my nervous system was completely fried. Perhaps not drinking in 7 yrs could be contributing to that...

Is ME a metabolic problem or a signalling problem?

@Jonathan Edwards the diagram is from wikipedia. If the H+ is coming from the cytosol and combining with pyruvate to form lactate then that H+ is getting mopped up and this should result in higher PH. I remember hearing that pyruvate was more acidic than lactate. But if the cell is importing...

Is ME a metabolic problem or a signalling problem?

Two things that I don't understand. First is the diagram shows a H from NADH joining pyruvate then a H+ leaving pyruvate. There is a change in charge here. Yet after LDH there is 2 extra hydrogens on lactate. It would only make sense if the H+ arrow going off was an arrow going on. I also am...

Is ME a metabolic problem or a signalling problem?

@Jonathan Edwards Not sure. I thought that excess NADH was used up by pyruvate to generate lactic acid. Pyruvate no excess hydrogens -> lactate 2 hydrogens. Then the hydrogen disasociates meaning excess H in cell?

Is ME a metabolic problem or a signalling problem?

Not sure what the evidence is but the lactic acid build up feeling the some get could be causing pH changes in the cell, right? pyruvic acid would not usualy build up, it would get used, but if your cell is struggling for energy you will import more which would then make sense if it makes the...

Is ME a metabolic problem or a signalling problem?

@boolybooly I have read previously about the TH2 shift from MCT however I have noticed no such effects and am generally not alergic to things, it is unfortunate that you are the opposite. I have a problem with going too high fat due to gastroparesis. Obviously this will be speculation but can...

Is ME a metabolic problem or a signalling problem?

@boolybooly I too have lactic acid build up unrelated to deconditioning that is worse with carbs. I also had that breathless sensation when it was real bad, usually after meals. I found that shallow breathing also counter-intuitively helped. I read an article in a newspaper of someone who...

Dichloroacetate Stabilizes Mitochondrial Fusion Dynamics in Models of Neurodegeneration, 2019, O'Hara et al

Interesting. It appears some people had success with DCA over on PR but it did nothing for me.

Lactate dehydrogenase supports lactate oxidation in mitochondria isolated from different mouse tissues, 2019, Young et al

@Andy I remember reading somewhere that 2 pyruvate are required to enter the mito and operate the PDC. One gets turned into Acetyl-CoA and in turn produces NADH, the other pyruvate uses the generated NADH with LDH to turn into lactate, regenerating the NAD+ so that the 2 new Pyruvates can enter...

Cognitive-behavioural therapy v. mirtazapine for chronic fatigue and neurasthenia: randomised placebo-controlled trial (2008) Stubhaug

Yeah according to wikipedia it increased adrenaline. It makes you tired because it also is an antihistamine.

Cognitive-behavioural therapy v. mirtazapine for chronic fatigue and neurasthenia: randomised placebo-controlled trial (2008) Stubhaug

FWIW Mirtazapine helped me POTS symptoms significantly when they were real bad. The day after I started taking it I noticed I could stand longer. I speculate this is due to Mirtazapine increasing adrenaline levels (by blocking aA2) and thus vasoconstriction.
