Stellate ganglion block reduces symptoms of Long COVID: A case series (2021) Liu et al

Moved from the long covid in the media thread Says nothing about a study, trial, or any evidence. Not sure if they really are going to just offer this treatment without any evidence, but it sure looks like it. Stella and RTHM Partner to Treat Long COVID...

Long Covid in the media and social media 2022

The German health minister regularly tweets and speaks about Long Covid. Yet the German government is doing absolutely nothing substantial about it. So what is the explanation here? Is he all wind? Or else what is blocking any effort whatsoever when the health minister keeps talking about doing...

Long Covid in the media and social media 2022

The stubborn refusal of every medical and public health institution to adequately warn about Long Covid will be a black mark on the medical profession for decades. It's entirely out of 19th century beliefs about "mass hysteria", one of the weirdest examples of tradition being the tyranny of dead...

United Kingdom: Science Media Centre (including Fiona Fox)

Deliciously ironic, isn't it? That had she left out this all-hype chapter, her book would probably only have positive reviews. It's a small industry and most seem to know one another, even if just generally. And I'm sorry but I can't help but notice just how strongly UK medicine (maybe it's...

Can't find the quoted passage but in the book at some point Fox claims that the PACE follow-up papers were not publicized at the demand of the researchers, or something like that, because of all the harassment. Nothing to do with null results, of course. In the end, the disclaimer in the book...

Long Covid in the media and social media 2022

One of the most universal patterns I see in pwLC is that alcohol is a massive trigger. I'd say about 99:1 discussion is some form of how a few sips of alcohol sent them on a massive relapse, how important it is to avoid it because of how reliable it is at making symptoms worse. So I call total...

    News from Scandinavia

They cannot seem to understand that trust comes from truth, that there is no way for people to trust them if they lie to them about things they know. The whole reason people go see medical professionals is that they expect the truth, remove that and you break the premise of the entire system...

Call for more investment in long Covid research amid ‘postcode lottery’ of care

Actually, it's being used exactly as intended. It's precisely this "understanding" that is at fault. Amazing that after all this time it's still completely taboo to just say: "hey, we were seriously wrong here and have to change". This is what's known as self-aware wolves, pointing fingers at...

The People's CDC is a community project as a response to the CDC's mishandling of the pandemic, and Long Covid. Bit like Independent SAGE, I'd say. A Call for More Responsibility in Communicating About Long COVID in Kids: Narrative Drives Behavior...

Still reading the Reddit long haulers forum every day. I find that the most informative forum posts are those asking simple, objective questions with simple answers. Especially in the format of "what happened", which is especially useful here as contrary to most of us, it's fresh, it happened...

Long Covid in the media and social media 2022

I wonder what the RCN position on ME and MUS has been... They seem to be the worst affected in the medical profession. There's something amazing about seeing simultaneously some physicians reporting they are starting to get swamped with LC, while many others are reporting not seeing any at all...

Solid! Just pure sharpened steel. And we are seeing exactly that happening with LC. Clinics are pushing GET and when questioned quickly insist it's not GET, even though they do GET because of trials that used GET, which would be like using a drug because of trials that used a different drug...

Long Covid in the media and social media 2022

There's been a slowly growing trickle of physicians saying they are getting swamped with LC referrals. Alongside many others who aren't seeing any, although in some cases they are seeing "lots" of "mental health issues" that are "probably" from lockdown. So they're seeing it, just not noticing...
