Netherlands - Women in science are missing out on dozens of millions of euros

Societal culture influences life choices and ours is a patriarchal society. I worked in early years education in the 90s and it was as clear as day that adults encourage traditional gender roles and behaviours in their children from the moment they are born.

Netherlands - Women in science are missing out on dozens of millions of euros

Because boys are culturally indoctrinated to believe their value as male is linked to their ability to kick and throw a ball before they are out of nappies.

Netherlands - Women in science are missing out on dozens of millions of euros

Because they are culturally indoctrinated to believe that their handsome prince will make their fragile princess lives complete before they can read.

    Ketamine mechanism discovery

Problem with many street drugs is you don't know what you're taking or, in the case of white powders, what it's been cut with. Unless you got it direct from the vet, how would you know?

Coat hanger pain - any suggestions for relief please?

Thank you ever so much, I'll ask my doctor about that consultant @Jan. I had two letters yesterday, one from the ME clinic saying there was a huge demand for appointments and I'm not going to be seen for ages and the second from the DWP saying my PIP assessment has been cancelled! Which is...

Coat hanger pain - any suggestions for relief please?

It's using the laptop that is the main culprit I think, the pain eases if I lie flat or sit well supported without using my arms at all. I do have a curve in my spine at the base of my neck instead of mid back where it should curve, it runs in my maternal family. My muscles keep knotting in the...

Coat hanger pain - any suggestions for relief please?

The delivery guy appeared with a huge box of Epsom salts I forgot I ordered last week!Just had a magnesium soak, Mr S has liberally applied ibuprofen gel and I'm lying flat. I've phoned the osteopath and left a message for an appointment. I'll ring the doctor for some hardcore pain killers if it...

Coat hanger pain - any suggestions for relief please?

Mr S has been rubbing ibuprofen gel into the area for me 2-3 times a day now. I get this a lot, but it never usually lasts this long or gets this bad. Guess I'll have to have a few days away from the laptop. Are there any meds that anyone has found helpful?

Coat hanger pain - any suggestions for relief please?

I've had coat hanger pain quite badly for a week now; the muscles have gone into spasm, nerve pain has increased, it's disturbing my sleep, typing and using the mouse are painful. I'm not a happy bunny! I have OI quite badly, sit with my feet up and head supported during the day. Ibuprofen gel...

Call to Action: Westminster Hall (UK) (parliamentary) debate: PACE trial and its effect on people with ME - Carol Monaghan February 20

I think it's quite a good example of how unreliable the reporting of facts and opinions can be @MEMarge and how that impacts what we remember 20years down the line. They say when there is an argument you get two polarised points of view and the truth lies somewhere in the middle; in the case of...

    PACE trial data

Has anyone asked for the entire anonymised dataset? I would have thought that the next logical step in response to this refusal. I don't believe they don't have anyone who can analyse the data, it's fairly straightforward, excel does most of it for you and universities teach data analysis as a...

Daily Mail: Royal Wedding harpist on her diagnosis of ME/CFS

Oh, I'm so sorry - I didn't mean you @Revel! I meant the daft trolls. I'm only being snotty so I don't get sucked in to the side bar of shame and start caring about the Kardashians or Katie Price's ex husbands.

Daily Mail: Royal Wedding harpist on her diagnosis of ME/CFS

Shooting fish in a barrel! No fun at all when it's so easy. Having said that I'm going to have to go back and see what you said to them...

Daily Mail: Royal Wedding harpist on her diagnosis of ME/CFS

Brave! I got through a fair few, down voting trolls, up voting anything positive, before my browser crashed. It was a relief to be honest! The first 'harping on' joke wasn't funny and the others even less so. The Mail is a fuckwit magnet.

    PACE trial data

As rubbish excuses go this one is the University equivalent to the dog ate my homework. Or I left it on the train and they can't find it in lost property. They really think everyone else is stupid, don't they? They managed to find the data they needed quickly enough to re-analyse according to...

Call to Action: Westminster Hall (UK) (parliamentary) debate: PACE trial and its effect on people with ME - Carol Monaghan February 20

A water treatment tank had a vast amount of aluminium tipped into it by the driver delivering the aluminium. There was no one around to tell him where to put the delivery so he used his own initiative! A much smaller amount of aluminium is used in the treatment of all drinking water. There was...

    Blood clotting disorders and ME

Hi @Binkie4 my understanding is that sticky blood can be caused by several factors, it isn't always lifelong or due to coagulation issues. It can be a temporary response to low oxygen availability due to 'lifestyle factors' such as heavy smoking or an adaptation to environment like very high...
