Poll: Who will find the answer to ME: Humans or AI?

I'm betting that invisible intergalactic time travelling lizards from the future, with a 'take one pill' cure for everything, will turn up, give it away for free on the interthingy, with the only price being that people must wait in line wearing a shirt that has what flavour they are printed on...

    Slow cookers and pressure cookers

I sussed out how to make better porridge in the 3l instant pot than I can in a pan. Only problem is that because of the minimum liquid component, needed so that it can pressurise, it's about a third more porridge than I would consider a portion. So a large thick portion of porridge. Actual...

Advice for difficulty texting on smartphone due to issues with fine motor skills/coordination

For me it's not exposure to water, it's my health. When more ill than usual I can't get my smartphone to work properly. If I can even get into it, as the fingerprint sensor says I am not me, and, what with the screen being 'unpredictable', it can be more trouble than it's worth to get it to...

    Slow cookers and pressure cookers

I recently moved and one of the bits I pulled from the loft and brought with me was an old cosori pressure cooker. I thought this had been retired to the loft as it's a bit dinky at 2L, useable capacity around 1L, so only good for 1 or 2 portions, and I prefer to cook much larger portions of the...

Advice for difficulty texting on smartphone due to issues with fine motor skills/coordination

It doesn't. Some tablets can also have a sim, as well as WiFi, primarily so that they can access the Internet when there is no WiFi available. These can also make and receive phone calls/texts, but as tablets with the ability to use mobile networks tend to be considerably more expensive, than...

    Lost Time

Pretty much random as far as I know.

    Lost Time

For me it's very common. It was disturbing when I first noticed it happening myself, it prompted my first round of medical investigations, 3 or more years, through the NHS system 2 and a half times before i gave up on them, but that was 3 decades ago. I got used to it.

In mice, anxiety isn’t all in the head. It can start in the heart

Would that explain why people who regularly raise their heart rate, fit healthy people, are so anxious.

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2023 (including government plans to scrap the work capability assessment)

I think that's the point. Based on my experience it is impossible to get UC if you don't have or use a phone and can't go to their office. I did mention reasonable accommodations/adjustments under the equalities act 2010 but was told that a phone call instead of an office visit was the...

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2023 (including government plans to scrap the work capability assessment)

You do but I gave a contact number instead, they were informed that I do not use a phone. Unfortunately their system, and staff, don't seem to understand this so my sister had to handle the arrangements for the ID interview appointment, and the initial 'commitments' interview (at which no...

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2023 (including government plans to scrap the work capability assessment)

I got one giving me 3 minutes (not a typo, three minutes) to attend an interview at my local jobcentre (universal credit ID check interview, that importantly, and irrelevantly given the whole 3 minutes for a housebound person to get to somewhere I had no idea where it was, had occurred 2 days...

Long Covid in the media and social media 2023

A person says that a treatment he hasn't done research on, yet, will be cured. By the treatment he is yet to research. In a year (presumably an earth year, as other places have longer years). So, clearly, obviously, someone to be taken seriously.

FDA approves world’s first fast-acting nasal spray to treat migraines

Superior to placebo? So better than nothing? But is it better than doing something? Even if that something is doing nothing in a darkened quiet room?

Times: NHS plan to help millions stop using antidepressants and painkillers

I will not go back to the hell that was my life before I got semi adequate pain management, in the form of opiates. If it is mandated that I no longer receive opiates, and worse that my pain management is to come from useless pointless energy sinks in hostile and draining environments, then...

CNN: Zero-calorie sweetener (erythritol) linked to heart attack and stroke, study finds

Half a litre of ice cream is not a large amount for me to consume. My understanding is that it's not a lot for anyone with control over access to consume. However I am puzzled as to how something marketed as zero calories, due to being indigestible, manages to get into the blood stream.

Long Covid in the media and social media 2023

Been a long time but surely when ill anything that increases blood pressure is likely to cause a headache? Things like pointlessly running around trying to victimise spherical objects may possibly increase BP in the living. Dunno, not a doctor, but it seems possible, and normal, no need to...

Endothelial dysfunction in ME/CFS patients, 2023, Sandvik, Mella, Fluge et al

In 2018 I tried various NO supplements for several months, based partially upon the 2013/14 paper, with the aim of increasing vascular responsiveness. There was a subjective improvement, small but there. At the level I operate at most of the time any improvement no matter how small can make a...

Long Covid in the media and social media 2023

Poorly researched based upon the quoted cost of 689pm, as this doesn't include rent, and probably other stuff. Not realising that many people have to pay rent.........as not all pwLC own their own country estates, many don't even own property on Mayfair, or have any staff to take up the slack
