UK: Raise the DWP Christmas Bonus from £10 for the first time in 51 YEARS!!!*

I remember getting it in the late 80s, before they decided that people who had double (or more) my income needed it more, so withdrew it from me. I was, at the time, on supplementary benefit bed and breakfast rate(short version - it was DSS policy at the time that claimants must move every few...

Cytoplasmic stress granules: a cause of cellular dysfunction in ME/CFS?

I wondered what flavour gravy they would make - probably down to being dragged up in the North East of England in the 70s/80s.

Replicated blood-based biomarkers for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis not explicable by inactivity, 2024, Beentjes, Ponting et al

But, if it is/was commercially sensitive then that very information would itself be commercially sensitive. Down the rabbit hole we go, again.

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2024 and 2025

ah, so it's a completely different Maximus from the Maximus that sent my claim back to the DWP 3 times, because I couldn't attend an assessment center that on a good day was over 2 hours away, each way, that the DWP H&S rules said was totally unsuitable and no one with mobility issues should...

David Tuller Crowdfunding starts May 1st 2024

I got something similar a few days ago. Basically asking me, using my first name, if I was the same person as my username on here, and thanking me for my continued support.

Trial Report Blood Flow To The Head Is Reduced in a Patient With Myalgic Encephalomyelitis With Confirmed Post-Exertional Malaise, 2024, Lee

I wasn't under the impression that an ear was the same thing as a head, medically speaking, and even if it wasn't N=1, if it was N=678599383, then all that might have been shown is that there is a reduction in blood flow to an ear (one of, out of a possible 2) when a person is in PEM, maybe...

    Animal research for ME

Anyone who's ever been owned by a cat knows they are conscious, and from that they should be capable of inferring that animals are, as a group, capable of feeling, scheming, manipulating, being annoyed, having their own distinct personalities, etc. Animals being conscious, being aware of what's...

Hypothesis COVID-19 and chronic fatigue syndrome: Is the worst yet to come?, Jan 2021, Wostyn

Anyone got any leeches to deal with an excess of the humors? Second thing medicine seems to think of, too much stuff inside so lets get it out. Granted the technology involved to do so may, or may not be, higher tech than leeches, but the idea, the concept, hasn't changed much since the stone...

    Coping with hot weather

This is one of the packs I have, but as I haven't tested them yet I can't actually recommend them. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sukeen-Cooling-Towels-Breathable-Microfibre/dp/B0CWGG66Z7/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1 Somewhere I have another pack of a different make, but I haven't tested...

Not as such no. TBH I haven't even tested these ones yet as I forgot about them in the recent heat.

    Coping with hot weather

My epoxy resin was received last night, thanks to an employee of the company that sold it via amazon - as amazon were still being 'unhelpful'. By 'unhelpful' I mean total gits, or so the media tells me in modern parlance 'basic'. Which surprises me I thought the term basic became itself...

    Coping with hot weather

They are very special to me, they cool drinks, an important thing, and they cool them ,allegedly, faster than cubical ice cubes - something to do with the surface area being larger. They are also significantly bigger than standard ice cubes so may last longer. Obviously I have to research this...

    Coping with hot weather

On the plus side I have just managed to produce my first batch of spherical ice cubes, so that's nice, and more on topic lol More difficult than you'd think, my first attempt only produced one sphere, the rest were definitely not spherical. All down to the speed they are whirred at when...

    Coping with hot weather

My epoxy resin, that was supposed to be here on Thursday, to repair a free evaporative cooler, was announced as 'irretrievably damaged' by the courier last night. This is after amazon stating that delivery had been attempted twice, when the courier said it was still in a distant hub. Amazon...

Poll: What is your most disabling symptom?

Cognitive impairment is the most 'damaging' symptom of ME for me. I can't organise things in my own head enough to get things done - a simple (and i do mean simple - but one step up from beans on toast) recipe can take me months to get a day where it's possible to even attempt let alone be...

Personal experience of using cumin to treat PEM

If in seed form then I'd just make up some Jeera rice, as that contains 1 tsp of cumin seeds, and eat that. Of course I know this because I make it quite regularly, but I haven't noticed any effect on PEM. It does go well with a daal tho.

    The Agreed Care/Activity Plan

It's the mindset that tells people that playing in traffic will cure ME, but when inevitably people get harmed by this it's not down to the 'treatment', it's not harm caused by inappropriate activity for a pwME, it's caused by traffic, and traffic, not a medical issue, not related to any medical...

Severe difficulties with eating in ME/CFS

but...there is no way that I could not answer yes to the first 2, however I am pretty much exactly the same weight as i was 25 years ago (too heavy). So probably not in dire need of 'treatment'.

Why are psychologists and rehabilitationists so unaware that their research, questionnaires and treatment can cause harm?

Eddie had a better understanding (understanding human psychology is essential for Jack Russells). Despite his passing in 2006 he probably still has a better understanding.....
