Whoa, the term pain catastrophizing is incredibly offensive, condescending, and probably sexist since most people with fibro are women, and all the subjects in this study were women. I'd like to see researchers focus more on identifying causes and treatments for fibromyalgia rather than focusing...
All the more reason to wear masks in public. At the grocery store yesterday, a small child was was coughing, and it sounded very phlegmy. I was glad to be wearing a good mask. I haven't had any colds in the past couple of years, which I attribute to masks. Now I have to go knock on wood.
I used to take oxaloacetate and felt a little more energy and a slight mood elevation. I had to stop, though, because even though I took it as soon as I woke up, it had a negative effect on my sleep. This kind of reaction is very common for me.
I had a pelvic transvaginal ultrasound some years ago, and I found it much less uncomfortable than a regular cervical exam. They did have me use the wand myself once it was inserted. It was all a little weird, but not painful.
I saw this morning that Novavax has applied for FDA approval as a booster in the U.S. It was recently approved as a primary vaccine, but not as a booster.

@shak8, I don't like these these terms, either. Alarms go off for me when I read about anxiety and depression in relation to fibromyalgia. Of course, if you have unremitting pain, you'll likely have depression and anxiety as a result. I dispute that these conditions are the cause, though. Maybe...
I don't know the cause, but what the possibilities you mentioned sound plausible. My hairdresser's clients who've experienced significant hair loss are all women with long covid. I'll ask her if any have improved and, if so, how long it took.
Yesterday, my hairdresser told me she's had 7 clients with long covid who are experiencing noticeable hair loss. What an excellent extra motivation for doing everything possible not to contract covid!
I used to try self-hypnosis for pain, but had trouble going into trance. Once, though, I was having a neurofeedback session, and while talking to the therapist, I spontaneously went into trance. She could tell, probably since my eyes appeared unfocused and my breathing slowed way down, so she...
I was turned down for Novavax. In the U.S. it is not yet approved as a booster. I had thought since my original J&J was way back in April of last year that this stipulation would not apply.
A couple of weeks after a minor procedure at my ENT's office next week, I'll get the J&J again...
I've recently started practicing qigong at home and am noticing more flexibility and range of motion in my knees, hips, and neck. It hasn't relieved any other symptoms, but that's okay. I value it as a pleasant physical exercise that doesn't make my joints hurt.
Novavax has been approved in the U.S. and is supposed to start being available in limited quantities in August. It's already being used in other countries. Have any of you had the Novavax vaccine?
@Trish, I can exercise just fine from an energy prospective, so do some form about 5 times a week. Most of my problems with exercise are from fibromyalgia and injuries from past falls, which can cause problems with certain exercises. Yoga can hurt because of the prolonged positions, but I find...
I just recently noticed that my streaming menu has a youtube icon. I find it easiest to follow this routine from my TV. I didn't know you could stream youtube. Everyone else probably did.
I have lost a lot of flexibility over the years from osteoarthritis and various injuries. I love this 10-minute standing qigong routine on youtube. Qigong is slow and flowing and doesn't aggravate my existing pain.
After doing this qigong for a couple of weeks, I'm more flexible and have...
@ahimsa, I live in Austin, Texas. It's sizable enough to have several different cryotherapy businesses.
The cat in your avatar is beautiful! My sister has a pair of marbled tabbies.
You wouldn't get stuck in a machine because an employee has to be with you the entire session.
I used to do whole body cryotherapy. There are several businesses in town that have the chambers. At the ones I've been to, they check your BP before and after and require providing a health...
If fudging a bit on the Epworth Sleepiness questionnaire is the only way you can get a sleep study authorized, I'd do it. If you do have apnea, it's very important to have that addressed. Anyone can have apnea, whether they snore or not or whether they are thin or heavy.
These days cpap masks...
I really hope that monkeypox does not become an excuse to further stigmatize the gay community. From what I've read, the transmission of these recent cases is thought to be from close contact, such as when people have sex. It's not conclusive that's it's being transmitted by gay sex.
