    Gay conversion therapy

I just scrolled back in this thread and spotted the above. I think it was probably 2019, for Pride month, that Stonewall ran a survey in the UK which concluded that somewhere in the low 50s percent (54%?) of people supported same-sex marriage. I remember being astonished to hear that it was so...

A random thought on contributing causes to ME/CFS

Sadly, though, in the fight for "healthier" foods it's becoming increasingly difficult to avoid squashes without artificial sweeteners. I'm down to about Waitrose High Juice Orange squash and little else - most other things have succumbed :( And I originally started on high juice squashes...

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

You don't get summer colds down there? Or is this something completely different? Could it be related to the lack of usual exposure to viruses because of Covid restrictions, so people are more vulnerable?

    Aripiprazole - Abilify

I thought it was 72 hours or some such, so 2-3 days, not weeks?

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

Caree had flu and Moderna bivalent jabs together, seemingly without any ill effects.

ME/CFS services in the United Kingdom

My immediate reaction was: while it's very nice for them to be offering treatment to this (presumably very small) subgroup of pwME, what if anything are they doing for the majority of pwME, who don't have complex life experiences of trauma, mental health conditions or substance use, or for that...

United Kingdom: Kings College London; South London and Maudsley NHS Trust

Hmm, I wonder if they're doing anything different to "treat" CFS than they were a couple of decades ago? Because in my experience that "treatment" didn't work.

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

You might be surprised at how MUCH they work, it's just not necessarily seeing patients. I had one GP ringing me at nearly 8 pm, as he was finishing up his cases for the day. That's probably 1.5 hours' overtime ("unpaid", with an 8 am start?). Then there's the one day a week they're supposed...

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

Same in the UK: ring NHS Direct or whatever they're called these days, and you'll probably be triaged to go to A&E regardless. (I got sent there for what was diagnosed as a case of gastroenteritis, I think. Really good idea taking that into a room full of people.) Have a mental health crisis...

Review of new film 'The Lost King'; main character has ME

From the "Picturehouse Recommends" magazine produced for Picturehouse Cinemas: The film is entitled "The Lost King"; the lead character is referred to as having suffered from ME or CFS - "an illness that has often elicited more blame than sympathy". From an interview with co-writer Steve...

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

I've been told that this year's flu vaccine is particularly well-targeted, so to speak - can anyone confirm?

“Spoonies: who we are and how to be an ally”

Messiaen? Doesn't fit on an LP, being one movement and too long. I don't think it was ever recorded until CDs came along. BTW, have you seen the excellent Janet Baker documentary? It pops up on BBC4 from time to time.

It will at least be once the funerals have finished, but still not an ideal time.

Landmark trial of NHS staff by King’s College London reveals promising solution to improve mental health

That reminds me: something I read the other day suggested that the mindfulness practised in schools has had very little effect.

    Need an answerphone!

And yes, it's quite well-known that the quality/reliability of the phones_with_answerphone is much poorer than that of standard answerphones.

    Need an answerphone!

Ah. I think that may be a major problem. Are you saying that you can't hear the message while it's being recorded? That's absolutely no use. The person concerned needs to be able to hear the message in order to intercept it and pick up the phone. I fear EBay/Amazon is going to have to be...

United Kingdom: Vitality360, a private company treating ME, fatigue and pain

Oh, you have found it. I just found a separate reference to the online event and wondered if it was worth mentioning. Hmm.

    Need an answerphone!

The blasted (literally) lightning strike last night seems to have fried our answerphone, and it doesn't look as though they are available in the UK any more - does anyone know differently? As you can imagine, an answerphone is a necessity when you have ME, and we really need a standalone one...

I was healthy before illness left me bedridden - it’s exhausting being alive -article in The Scottish Sun

Is that really Basildon, I wonder, or Baildon? (assuming it's not spelt with an e - I can't remember)
