Pelvic transvaginal ultrasound - what's it like?

I'm booked for a "pelvic transvaginal ultrasound" on 12th September, to investigate the cause of my severe period pain. The NHS website says "may cause some discomfort, but don't usually cause any pain". I'm hoping that some people here who have had this procedure can confirm whether this is an...

[Poll] Experiences of PWME taking the contraceptive pill

Just been reading up about the effects of progesterone on your body, and apparently it might even help me sleep better. On the other hand it may mean that I’ll get more acne breakouts, might make me want to eat more, and might cause constipation. Apparently the evidence suggest that the...

[Poll] Experiences of PWME taking the contraceptive pill

Cervical screening went fine. For me it didn’t feel much different to inserting a pessary (which I do quite often as I keep getting thrush). The nurse said my cervix was really easy to get to - a rare moment of my body doing something well!

[Poll] Experiences of PWME taking the contraceptive pill

New GP seemed pleasant (although I still prefer my usual one, who’s away currently ). Prescribed me the mini pill (progestogen-only) - apparently the combined one is a little bit risky with my weight. (She didn't make a big deal about my weight at all though, I didn't feel shamed for it or...

Difficulty getting my ffp2 mask to fit snugly?

Thanks all, you are right it is too big. A smaller one still has a little bit of gap on each side of my nose, but a lot less. The straps on the smaller one are really uncomfortable though so I’m going to try to find one with more comfortable straps.

Difficulty getting my ffp2 mask to fit snugly?

Have recently become aware of the importance of having a good “seal” with the mask to prevent virus particles getting in around the edges. But I can’t seem to get a good seal? Please have a look at my short Twitter thread explaining the problem

[Poll] Experiences of PWME taking the contraceptive pill

At least, if the doctor doesn’t believe me that I’m in pain, I can just go to a local sexual health clinic instead and ask them for contraception.

[Poll] Experiences of PWME taking the contraceptive pill

Although this poll didn’t get many respondents, I posted a similar poll in a severe ME Facebook group, and got results that some people had had those side effects but most haven’t. So I’m going to give it a go. My usual GP, whom I like, isn’t available til September, so I’m booked for Monday...

[Poll] Experiences of PWME taking the contraceptive pill

Hello I’m thinking of asking my GP for the contraceptive pill (the “combined pill” which contains both oestrogen and progesterone) as I’m struggling with painful periods. I don’t want to be on it long term, as I’m worried about the risks of clots and breast cancer (though to be fair it does...

Has anyone seen David Strain or William Weir

Dr Bansal is better than most doctors re ME, but... He sometimes recommends things which have poor evidence (E.g. low dose naltrexone, abilify, various supplements) and typically insists "they have no side effects". Whilst he opposes "graded exercise therapy", he does try to persuade you to...

Increased risks of cancer and autoimmune disease among the first-degree relatives of patients with ME/CFS, 2022, Moslehi et al

I agree. The p-values are good here, but the small sample size makes me concerned about reliability.

    N-acetyl cysteine (NAC)

Just FYI, NAC can encourage candida overgrowth in the gut, for some people.

Feeling like I'm starving, or continuing to feel hungry despite a full stomach

Can be a side effect of some medications (Personally I sometimes get it as a side effect from zopiclone)
