    NICE ME/CFS guideline - draft published for consultation - 10th November 2020

Who could the enigmatic michael s be?! also, quite remarkable in research of behavioural treatment that it's somehow impossible to objectively measure changes in behaviour. although it's much easier if one just stopped measuring such things i guess

Also, reading the tone of the whole statement, it doesn't sound like he's ultra concerned, compared with the bmj thing it's very relaxed.

    NICE ME/CFS guideline - draft published for consultation - 10th November 2020

Ikr! I think the unseriousness of the article is underlined by his presence. They could have interviewed anyone, even a Wessely or a Sharpe would have made more sense, instead they interview the guy who goes round promoting lightning process for a different set of patients. The business with...

    NICE ME/CFS guideline - draft published for consultation - 10th November 2020

I'm not really up to reading thru all this atm, so can i ask a quick question: is any of this likely to make any difference to anything important?

Article and Documentary BBC: Long Covid: Early findings bring hope for diagnostic tests

I think the reemergence of Alan Carson as some sort of post viral expert may the the most dispiriting of all the progressions in the Long Covid saga. Long Garner is troublesome, Long Carson appears to be a serious lifelong affliction that plagues my every moment. I wish he'd go back to making...

Clare Gerada: influence on UK medical practice and ME/CFS management

i like to think that's the pose claire gerada strikes when, after careful consideration, she tells someone that the only certain cure is exercise

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

Had az yesterday. Arm hurts now and bit of a headache, nothing very terrible tho. The thing I'm furious about was the experience of getting the vaccine. I went to the big out of town centre against my better judgement, as car travel makes me unwell and I was worried about queues and...

Paul Garner on Long Covid and ME/CFS - BMJ articles and other media.

It's not a conspiracy, Garner is just desperate to be liked now that he doesn't have a reason to fight anyone's corner. Backing Sharpe, arguably the least sympathetic of all the people that, a mere three months ago, he was saying were the bane of ME patients' existence is the icing on the cake.

Paul Garner on Long Covid and ME/CFS - BMJ articles and other media.

I find Garner interesting, in that he went out of his way to reach out to the ME community, and clearly found some comfort in connecting with other ME and long covid sufferers at a time when he was being dismissed by his doctors. And then the second he's better, he immediately dumps on the only...

COVID-19 vaccine: UK regulators warn people with history of 'significant' allergic reactions not to have Pfizer/BioNTech jab

idk, it looks like they'll narrow it all down a bit by the time everyone gets it. I've had bad reactions in the past, but nothing that occasioned me needing an epipen, so maybe i will get it in the end. It still looks a bit rough tho.

COVID-19 vaccine: UK regulators warn people with history of 'significant' allergic reactions not to have Pfizer/BioNTech jab

Well, this is standard in the UK. You might be lucky to get a good dr for a while, but the best they will offer is benign neglect and letters to the DWP. At worst, they'll hang you out to dry and tell you it's for yr own good. I appear to be starting a bad cycle.

COVID-19 vaccine: UK regulators warn people with history of 'significant' allergic reactions not to have Pfizer/BioNTech jab

I agree, and I still hope to have the Oxford vaccine if it doesn't sound so bad. But I do wish there were some idea of what ME patients are likely to have to deal with in all this. I can remember a time when it would have taken me 6 weeks to recover from a car journey. As such, doing something...

COVID-19 vaccine: UK regulators warn people with history of 'significant' allergic reactions not to have Pfizer/BioNTech jab

Apparently, the moderna vaccine creates even more side effects I can't help thinking any vaccine that causes fever is probably a bad idea for severely affected ME patients, esp given that there's a second dose. Patients who take more than a few days to recover from minor setbacks seem likely...

COVID-19 vaccine: UK regulators warn people with history of 'significant' allergic reactions not to have Pfizer/BioNTech jab

It's complicated. From before I became ill, I was allergic to cannabis (I was a student, you find these things out), but after I became ill i began to have more wide ranging sensitivities, which could vary in severity depending on how unwell I was. The last time anything made me at all...
