This is an irresponsible use of public funds when there are people in desperate need of research into treatments and cures ( and prevention) for underfunded conditions; research that will make a real difference to lives. The NIH should know this, there is no excuse.

But Cochrane doesn’t have power to regulate or teeth to sanction does it? To me it seems more like a highly influential cross between a library and a marketing tool.
I have been wondering in my more idealistic moments why there isn’t one, but I don’t know about this sort of thing. It seems a good idea to me.

This has been niggling at me - I thought that hormonal changes in pregnancy (and perhaps the menopause?) could affect ligaments. Maybe that’s an old wives tale, but it was told to me by midwives in an antenatal class and by a GP back in the early nineties. I’m not able to research this myself -...

I wonder how Phil Parker frames congenital illness and disability. At what point before birth does the individual decide to ‘do’ their condition or does the mother decide on their baby’s behalf if it’s before they develop a nervous system?

What clinical outcomes would those be? They don’t know what the true picture of clinical outcomes is because they can’t be bothered using objective measures to find out, or follow up patients longer term.
Since the govt first decided to outsource in this way (it’s been both Labour Party and Conservative party policy) large companies with many fingers in many pies have risen up. There is a lot of money to be made from government contracts on terms that can be unduly favourable to the company...
