  3. The ME Inquiry Report

Unevidenced recommendations of brain retraining in Bateman Horne Centers clinical guide for ME and longcovid

Thank you for reading! I think this also opens up the possibility that the Oslo Chronic Fatigue Consortium will have influence. And I think that is perhaps the most dangerous thing in this, that when you open up for brain training, you cannot or credibly mark against BPS influences in general.
  4. The ME Inquiry Report

Unevidenced recommendations of brain retraining in Bateman Horne Centers clinical guide for ME and longcovid

The BHC has read my posts in advance and has provided a comment. In this concluding post, you will read their comment and my concluding thoughts. Link: BHC's comment on my posts on their recommendation of brain training (part 5) Spoiler:
  5. The ME Inquiry Report

Unevidenced recommendations of brain retraining in Bateman Horne Centers clinical guide for ME and longcovid

The BHC is appealing for donations to spread its guide - and by extension, its recommendation based on pseudoscience. It makes me sick to my stomach. Link: Facebook
  6. The ME Inquiry Report

Unevidenced recommendations of brain retraining in Bateman Horne Centers clinical guide for ME and longcovid

The Bateman Horne Center's recommendation on brain retraining goes against their own guide - in today's post I'll show how. Link Part 4: Why the recommendation by BHC is risky and contradictory (part 4)
  7. The ME Inquiry Report

Unevidenced recommendations of brain retraining in Bateman Horne Centers clinical guide for ME and longcovid

Yes, you are right about that. I was mostly thinking that the possibility to customize for the individual that BHC is talking about is basically non-existent if they participate in a program compared to getting help managing stress in an individual treatment relationship.

  9. The ME Inquiry Report

Unevidenced recommendations of brain retraining in Bateman Horne Centers clinical guide for ME and longcovid

Yes, if that's the case, they need to be clear about it. As it is now, it just gets confusing. I'm getting ahead of myself (more on this in the next post) but why do they insist on talking about "programs"? They could have just as easily talked about different ways to deal with stress?
  10. The ME Inquiry Report

Unevidenced recommendations of brain retraining in Bateman Horne Centers clinical guide for ME and longcovid

I put the Bateman Horne Center on the spot about their recommendation on brain training. Today you can read their response. Part 2 (link): Dialogue with BHC regarding the recommendation on brain training (part 2) A sneak peek at the BHC's reasoning:
  11. The ME Inquiry Report

Unevidenced recommendations of brain retraining in Bateman Horne Centers clinical guide for ME and longcovid

Not so cynical, I think. But a perfectly reasonable question. Disappointing indeed.

  14. The ME Inquiry Report

Unevidenced recommendations of brain retraining in Bateman Horne Centers clinical guide for ME and longcovid

Bateman Horne Centers new clinical guide ”CLINICAL CARE Managing ME/CFS, Long COVID, & IACCs” contains a problematic recommendation for brain retraining (chapter 7 p 23). BHC do not provide any sources to support their recommendation. Today, I have published part one of a series of posts on...
