    News from Germany

It's a very gritty story but one that doesn't reach the public often enough. So some caution before reading. Not able to do a recap now, but the kid was treated abhorrently by a host of people.

    News from Scandinavia

Seems to be a lot of this going on, doesn't there? Introduction of post-infectious or infection-associated diseases and bringing in different specialties to research it.

    News from Germany

Extend this to every disease and be done with the concept entirely once and for all please. Getting beyond annoyed that this has to be done for every single &@&#& disease at a time. The consequence is always that real research is delayed as @rvallee has laid out in his post and that patients...

    News from Canada

Still has a following to this day, as treasurer of the fanclub I'm proud to say we're nearing the 50th anniversary of the generic fluffers!

Independent advisory group for the full update of the Cochrane review on exercise therapy and ME/CFS (2020), led by Hilda Bastian

Was surprised that this thread suddenly had an influx of posts. Even more surprised that Cochrane felt compelled/pressured to start up dialogue again. That said it seems as placating us more than anything so far and without further pressure I think this is what we'll be left with. Kudo's to...

EMA: Workshop on generating clinical evidence for treatment and prevention options for long-COVID / post-acute sequelae condition (PASC)

I see it streams directly to Vimeo. Usually when someone does that with youtube it's a matter of refreshing the page and you can watch it from start to finish. https://vimeo.com/event/3140284 When I look here for example I see that EMA has done this in the past: https://vimeo.com/user109323440

Long Covid in the media and social media 2023

Is "Time" actually well-read? I've seen a couple of takes of them this year and they've without exception been terrible in a host of different domains.

USA: National Institutes of Health (NIH) intramural ME/CFS study

I'm gonna wait for the study to come out. I appreciate people going to these things and giving us their accounts but this seems so muddled that it's really hard to tell what is what. I rarely get my hopes up for any specific paper so this won't be any different, can only be positively surprised...

OMF: Muscle Biopsy and Plasma Study into Post-Exertional Malaise, David Systrom, 2022

Was put on a stretching regime early stages of ME by a physio. I still played football at the time. 3-5 mins of stretching was more exhausting than a match of admittedly very low intensity football.

ETUDE: Encompassing Training in fUnctional Disorders across Europe

Somehow academia never strikes me as very welcoming of critical thinking. At least not these fields.

People with ME featured on TV programmes

It's usually enough to put me off even going on holiday with my family, moving sounds like a nightmare. All those little routines a lot of which you don't realize you have get disrupted. Waking up groggy and trying to make breakfast not finding your stuff at first. When they were renovating the...

New developments in understanding chronic illness, Nov. 8-10 Washington DC Davis/Hanson

I've bashed no one, but if Nath has found something tangible I'd imagine there to be universal delight without the need for point-scoring. Except maybe against ze BPS-crew. There'd be so much dunking on them, hahayes.

Long Covid in the media and social media 2023

Not exactly an endorsement of said medical research by Flottorp. More along the lines of, they have some ideas but none are proven. She also highlights mainly symptoms that they always explained psychologically. Anxiety, PTSD, depression, palpitations, exhaustion. I'm sure she has a misgiven...

Any examples of flawed Dutch studies similar to the Pace Trial?

Got nothing to add at the moment, just that it's great that your son is showing an interest @Lidia Thompson. The more people that are well informed and able to challenge these narratives, the better.

UK: All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on ME news, 2020 onward

So if they'd spend a couple billions to get us fully healthy it'd actually be a great return on investment, fiscally speaking...
