The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

Yes, I don't understand it either. The UK Government has spent the last year telling us that we need to wear face masks to protect others from being infected with Covid, yet now suddenly it's fine for us to choose not to wear them. Almost as if the masks were protecting us rather than others...

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

Considering that the UK Government is threatening England with the removal of most restrictions in a couple of weeks, I should think they'd want to avoid that situation at all costs. I don't think the results will be pretty.

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

I think the vaccine (probably AstraZeneca, since that's what most of us had in the UK at that stage) was shown to greatly reduce transmission, but I couldn't quote you chapter and verse on that one.

    Hearing things?

Funnily enough, I had to download the Moldex catalogue the other day for work-related reasons, and was having a look at those ear plugs. I thought they looked good.

Are there any studies that include bedbound CFS patiënts playing tennis within 6 months?

Mario Ancic ... I think there was someone else, too. Actually, I believe I saw something recently along the lines of Soderling's retirement having actually been due to depression.

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

Well, I've been wondering more or less since the beginning whether that nasty "bug" that was doing the rounds in the UK in December 2019 was actually Covid. It certainly wiped me out more than usual. I guess we may never know for certain.

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

Not specific to Covid, and I'm wondering whether (and where) I should actually start a new thread, but I watched much of the Channel 4 documentary "The Anti-Vax Conspiracy" tonight with mounting concern: the anti-vax movement seems to be a lot more powerful and widespread (as well as...

The Daily Mail (yes, I know) reports that a reason why some vaccines cause blood clots has been found, and that vaccines can be tweaked accordingly: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/health/medical/scientists-say-they-have-discovered-why-some-jabs-cause-blood-clots/ar-AAKpMxC?ocid=ASUDHP&li=AAnZ9Ug...

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

Didn't know where else to put this, and it's distinctly stale news, but the BBC News tonight had a report on trained sniffer dogs very successfully picking out people who were wearing clothing which had been worn by a Covid patient. It will be a great help e.g. at airports if most of the people...

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

The Health Secretary on the news tonight was saying that Pfizer was showing to be 80% effective against symptomatic infection - no mention of variants, I think - and AstraZeneca 60%. The latter was reported as probably being unduly low because of the relative newness of the vaccine and the fact...
