New German guideline for ME published today

Love the passive aggressive comment about how the coping strategy employed by ME/CFS organisations did worse than the treatment groups. Seriously though, what sort of 'Spasti' wrote this garbage? PACE led to moderate improvements? In which universe? This is the most impressive thing about...

Lancet Infectious Diseases: Editorial, "A proper place for retraction", 2017, mentions PACE in passing

Of course the conclusion is part of the issue You should never be able to conclude that a given treatment is effective when a study is as methodologically flawed as PACE. The Lancets nonchalant attitude towards flawed methodology is incredibly concerning.

Biopsychosocial seminar in Norway (June 2018)

What is this significant research activity they are talking of? The 5 million dollars a year the illness received annually? I always get so frustrated that they get away with making stuff up like this unchallenged. Sending our best and brightest! YOU'RE WELCOME NORWAY

Oscar nominations now being announced - will Unrest be among them?

Eugh, stupid Oscar lobbying - Extremely tough to compete with movies that have been years and years in the making and have the power of Netflix lobbying behind them. Have to admit that the field was tough this year though. Last men in Aleppo, Abacus and Icarus all deserved the nominations.

Henrick Vogt: "intense negativity spread by individuals/CFS groups/researchers" partly to blame for family's suicide

I barely have the heart to translate the article. Looked like the school did what it could to accommodate the children, but my swedish reading comprehension isn't exactly the best. This article on the matter is better written...

Guidance for commissioners of services for people with medically unexplained symptoms - 2017

I am always surprised by the passive aggressive psychotic comments like this, that always seem to appear with anything related to MUS / SOLK / BDS Haha, those crazy little girls, with their periods, boyfriends, ovaries and emotions no wonder they are sick all the time. Ah yes, the sicker you...

Cognitive behavioural therapy for MS-related fatigue explained: A longitudinal mediation analysis, 2018, van den Akker et al

Yep, it's the same clowns who conducted the laughably funny CBT studies for CFS patients in The Netherlands - https://www.researchgate.net/publication/40846607_How_does_cognitive_behaviour_therapy_reduce_fatigue_in_patients_with_chronic_fatigue_syndrome_The_role_of_physical_activity These guys...

    The CFS deconditioning hypothesis

There is a certain irony in that the deconditioning theory was actually debunked by psych wackos from the Netherlands. Strong believers in CBT / GET who happen to be really good colleagues with wessely and co. Basically they ran through their older CBT studies which had employed actometers, and...

BBC Stories: "I had it all - now I create a new world in a single room"

BBCs turnaround regarding ME/CFS has definitely been ongoing for a while. Some of you might remember this interview for BBCs Ouch Disability Talk. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05mgjjz The interviewer Natasha Lipman suffers from ME/CFS and works as chronic illness blogger as a writer for...

Buzzfeed News - A Controversial Therapy For ME Has Led To Claims Of Death Threats, Harassment, And Pseudoscience

I feel like this is actually the most well written coverage of SMILE / PACE from a news site so far. By covering both sides of the debate, the article actually manages to make Crawley and Bristol come off as uniquely inept. Mega awkward Although the author does his best to remain neutral...
