Some of the Dutch CBT researchers used actigraphy frequently. They reach some bizarre conclusions when they have to rationalize that CBT ''improves'' fatigue, but doesn't lead to increased level of activity...
She doesn't even have any sort of scientific background.. How can she possibly be qualified to give a lecture at the research seminar?
Also isn't LP officially recognised as alternative medicine in Norway?
Bizarre
Granted I would rather have some LP wacko at a conference than some of the CBT...
My understanding of biology is non-existent. But could the increase in brain temperature explain why so many of us feel ''feverish'' although our temperature is in normal range when measured with something like a thermometer?
2300 is a lot.
ME/CFS is still in its infancy. When trying to create more awarness / get more funding, every single dollar counts.
Many thanks to the anonymous donor. Will definitely be donating to Solve for the great jobe they've been doing for so long.
Sometimes I wonder if we are the same person Jaime.
Sadly, for once, my Autumn / November magic has so far been absent this year.
Slowly but steadily becoming more ill might explain the absence though. I am definitely dreading end of December / January though. Last year was absolutely brutal...
Wow, it explains everything.
But as someone without a background in the sciences. Why on earth was Cochrane ever considered the gold standard of medicine? There doesn't seem to be any quality control at all. Yet the supposed quality control is the entire raison d'etre behind Cochrane.
I don't have the energy to read this properly at all.
But I have just skimmed through it a bit, and every bit I have randomly come across is incredibly disturbing, and when I write incredibly disturbing I do not use hyperbole. Everything reads as if it's written as a parody of the worst parts...
I've been pretty vocal about this before. So most people will know my views.
But I agree completely.
In fact given what we know about the current committee, my opinion is that we should focus on just one single topic.
The topic being, is CBT and GET an appropriate treatment for ME/CFS?
We...
Yes Colin. Reviews should be based on scientific and clinical evidence. That's why the review is being withdrawn.
Huge news by the way. No more hiding behind Cochranes skirts.
Sadly, I've got no energy today. So won't be able to write anything.
But it's a very intersting article. Especially regarding the ridiculous Cochrane reviews on alternative treatments.
This is a considerable problem in the Danish ME/CFS debate.
An extraordinary amount of Danish ME/CFS patients are attributing their illness to vaccinations, and are very vocal anti-vaxxers.
At the same time, the few doctors / scientists who speak out in public mostly all seem to be against the...
Honestly.
I loved the
And the journalist is just like
Herp derp, smell you later Lakens, enough quotes from you. Got some BPSers to talk to. Thereby just clearly confirming Lakens misgivings. Honestly made me laugh.
There was a thread earlier this year about a Vice article, which featured the journalist spending 70 days in bed for science

Think i'm going to throw up.
Uhm, what does it matter that you've found 5 people who claim to have been helped by CBT?
I am sure we can find thousands who claim they have cured their chronic illness with magnets, prayers or homeopathy. Does this say anything at all about the validity of these...
The BPS'ers in both The Netherlands and Denmark seem to have banked heavily on the Cochrane reviews to justify CBT and GET. So this will be an incredibly interesting development. I do hope Cochrane does the right thing, although I do worry about the lethal amount of schadenfreude I will be...
Yep. ACT seems to be used a lot to treat MUS recently. Especially in Denmark. There are countless studies being conducted at the moment.
A study that was published recently:
Acceptance and Commitment group Therapy for patients with multiple functiomal somatic syndromes: a three-armed trial...
It's interesting that Dekkers doesn't even seem to distinguish between subjective and objective outcomes at all. It's as if all outcome measures are created equal in his world. As long as the majority of outcome measures are positive, that's all that matters to him.
