Maeve Boothby O'Neill - articles about her life, death and inquest

I'm a firm believer in the cock-up theory, ie, cock-up rather than conspiracy.

What do people want me to ask Sonya Chowdhury on Friday

I had a brief email exchange with Sonya recently, letting her know about Malcolm Offord and APPG. I mentioned and linked to the thread we had here about the charities. She hadn't known about it, but did say she'd have a look. It's her first day back today from her break, so it will presumably...

What do people want me to ask Sonya Chowdhury on Friday

OK, thanks, Jo. I absolutely take the second point and I think it's important not just in itself but for the sake of us all involved with ME that this does not happen. A load of junk studies will just undermine our credibility. It is a real shame about the first. I was talking to Chris recently...

What do people want me to ask Sonya Chowdhury on Friday

Research. At the moment there is a great campaign and some efforts by charities, but in my view it lacks a realistic target and a realistic plan on how to get there. It needs greater coordination and focus, and Sonya is the only one in my opinion who can provide it. It seems to me that Sonya is...

Maeve Boothby O'Neill - articles about her life, death and inquest

I hadn't realized that Ramsay was saying it was the trigger illness. Words shift in meaning. Ramsay did also recognize the post-infection illness and, as you say, described this as chronic ME. If people, including the charities, then used this as the paradigm for post-infectious illness and...

Maeve Boothby O'Neill - articles about her life, death and inquest

I think that horse has bolted. I've always thought the same about the RFH cases (and indeed other supposed 'outbreaks'): that they were in fact likely to be an unknown infection (probably virus) and that from that infection some had the same problems as we have seen after Covid, ie some...

UK: All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on ME news, 2020 onward

Ah right. There was just the one, but it was personal, in the sense that I mentioned when we last saw each other and how I'm affected, so it wouldn't be of any use.

Probably, certainly possibly, but which particular email would you like to see?

UK: All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on ME news, 2020 onward

I have now heard back from him and he has said he will gladly join the APPG. Malcolm and I were good friends at university, though I know many will have different political views from Lord Offord. It is important, though, to have support from across the political spectrum, and ME does not...

Letter today from member of 2001 CMO working group on ME. Sir, Melanie Phillips’s intelligent article “Canada’s assisted death rush is a grim warning” (comment, Sep 17) appears alongside another report, “Patients with ME risk starvation, warn doctors”. The medical profession is still dominated...

Fixing science means an end to gaming the system, 2024, Brown

Fixing science means an end to gaming the system Nick Brown Abstract During the last decade, there has been a substantial acceleration in the open science movement. Most people would probably hope to have seen signs of positive change in that time, yet it seems that the process of improving...

UK lawyer for suing for medical negligence of #ME. No win no fee. Please share far and wide.

Perhaps @Valerie Eliot Smith could confirm, but when I did an injury no win-no fee, the other's side's costs were covered by insurance. I think that is standard in such cases.
