I have tried various TCM “things” at the onset of my illness; herbs, acupuncture, moxibustion were all part of the menu.
I suspect that they are all next to useless but we will never have an honest study to tell us so, because... who is going to bother spending the time?
Just donated, big fan of your work. Can I ask a really basic / potentially silly question -- why does this work require crowdfunding? UC Berkeley is happy to support this project, but can't do so financially?
It's pretty funny if you ask me. He obviously thinks he can get away with emulating the OG BPSers but he doubles-down a little too hard when the tide is already turning. I guarantee that it backfires for him, although the consequences might be pretty light in his line of work.
One thing I'll add to Trish's list:
Surely they must have known they were considering a retrospective analysis, and they could have done a better job with ensuring patients answered completely and in the correct format.
I also strongly agree with #6, how hard would it have been to follow-up...
I think the process is traction -> upright MRI -> send scans to Bolognese.
My practitioner noted that one should always be careful when asking a surgeon whether or not surgery is indicated. But they also said that since Bolognese is already in such high demand, he wouldn’t need to...
(This comment is not in response to anything posted above, I just wanted to report some stuff and now that this thread is front page again, I figured that I will do so now.)
As a patient in the USA, and as someone who is still trying to figure out what is wrong with my body, this ongoing CCI...
I glanced at this the other day, and was surprised to see it posted here. I just re-read the full thing in order to comment...
So much work for such a useless piece of research. They recruited a couple hundred sick patients, all of whom were referred to the "Centre for Vector-borne Infections"...
Here is an interesting followup published today:

I am seriously considering trying Disulfiram again. I received a new Lyme Western Blot IgM that is way more positive than it ever has been, and my symptoms have multiplied and increased in severity.
Since it hasn't yet been posted, here is the Liegner article:

@Joan Crawford thank you for sharing your experience. Very interesting and glad to hear that it has helped.
@unicorn7 I am similarly glad to hear that you are doing well on Disulfiram. At least with that one, you know that in the past many alcoholics have also taken it for extended periods of...
Horowitz also has a reputation of being a “hype man”. I really respect the guy and would see him as his patient if given the opportunity. But sometimes you have to take his proclamations with a grain of salt.
Yes. The problem with this article is that it is basically just one doctor saying “this is what I have been trying”. Which don’t get me wrong, is better than not publishing at all.
I also agree that outcomes are too subjective and likely to be biased.
My main disappointment with any Lyme...
This is basically the latest and greatest research that exists for patients with long-term Lyme Disease / tick-borne infections.
As it's just a case report and retrospective chart review, it is hard for me to get very excited about it. This is the treatment "protocol", note that it consults of...
