What is ME and why is the NHS approach to it being criticised...
I had a look at the webpage on which the Benefits and Work article is based, and it doesn't actually mention ME/CFS as such. That seems to have been added by Benefits and Work. The original web page refers to 'Syndromes characterised by chronic pain and fatigue', which obviously includes ME/CFS...
My understanding is it's a representative sample of the population who are being tested. If 1% test positive, that can be extrapolated to 1% of the population likely to test positive. Although, in actual fact, there's some adjustment of the figures to accurately determine the rate across the...

So it seems they are still doing the random testing of those 26,000 and basing their figures on those results
