Feedback from Stakeholder Engagement Workshop for the NICE guidelines on ME, Jan 2018

I agree with @Barry and have just submitted a comment under Spoonseeker's excellent latest blog post also saying I believe it was the RCGP who made that terrible comment he cites in his blog post if I have read the stakeholders' comments correctly in that table provided. Nonetheless, as Barry...

Jen Brea's #UnrestPBS twitter chat (numerous guests)

@Andy, my view is he probably didn't when the made the joke about ME in his routine, which was quite a few years ago now, but as I believe many people with ME have contacted him since that joke he probably is aware now. However, I don't think he will ever apologise, but at least he may be more...

@Jonathan Edwards, would you be able to elaborate on what is the grain of truth in Wessley's letter? Thank you.

"Time for Unrest": ME article by Nathalie Wright

It is interesting to note that SW does not believe the outbreak at the Royal Free documented by Ramsey was the same illnesss he was looking at and was being discussed in media articles in the 1980's. P. D White has also claimed the same in a presentation he did at a CFS conference in 2008 and...

"Time for Unrest": ME article by Nathalie Wright

@Liv aka Mrs Sowester, but is he even saying that he was wrong to believe what he was taught about the perils of labelling? I thought what he proceeds to write in that piece doesn't suggest he views it was wrong to believe the theories in the Recovery Movement, as he goes on to claim that CBT...

@Esther12, I hear you about not taking a firm position on the criteria stuff as all a mess too. However, what is your opinion that pem in Fukuda is not mandatory for a diagnosis? Surely this means that Fukuda is going to select very mixed patient cohorts?

Not read through comments on this post yet. I am just skim reading the guide now, managed to get a copy, and will try to read properly. I have to say on reading so far I still have many concerns. Yes, the guide does point out there is research coming out that shows metabolic dysfunction and...

Is a CPET safe for PWME?

Thanks @Sasha. Yes, a one off big effort can definitely cause a long term relapse. Jen Brea in her film mentions walking back from seeing her doctor, who wrongly said she had conversion disorder during the appointment, to her home to test herself and relapsed as soon as she got home. She says in...

Is a CPET safe for PWME?

@Sasha, all I can share is I did an overambitious 200 metre walk seven years ago which caused a massive relapse from which I still have not recovered. I was until I did that walk able to leave the house in a wheelchair a few times a week for short trips and mobilise around my flat, so...
