But what they do is just give you a fake thyroid hormone medicine which is horrid :grumpy: and expect you to get better and shut up about it. If it is Hashimoto's it takes ages to diagnose and not taken seriously for some reason. :cautious:Sorry to tell...
On the up side, I guess I persevered...
Wonko take some food with you to the hospital, you need to eat after giving blood. I guess you can eat at the hospital afterwards.
I get my thyroids checked every 3 months. I take my food, I hate eating at hospital canteens and usually they don't have decent gluten free stuff.
Good luck, I...
I used to get 1ml cyanocobalamine injections. This was before I know anything about supplementing B12 for ME.
I was feeling poorly for a long time, and I got so bad I passed out at home in the middle of the night.I was feeling so dizzy and nauseous I thought I had food poisoning. Dizzines was...
I had this more than once over the years. My worst attack was December 2015. I had an epidural and other injections of pain killers. They helped, though it was a long recovery. After initial unbearable pain, that you can not even just be, exist as a human being! It went away slowly but some pain...
Thanks everyone and especially @alicec for a proper scientific explanation.
I'm going to phone for an appointment with my GP tomorrow. Both discuss vitamin D issue and forthcoming Synacthen test.
I forgot to mention that I become allergic to dairy. I stopped eating dairy which breaks my heart because I love cheese. So, I'm now deprived of calcium and the vitamin D that I get from the dairy too. Do you still think calcitriol 0.50 mcg taken every other day can be dangerous for me @Jonathan...
There are various different forms of vitamin D supplements. I found this confusing. I bought calcitriol over the counter thinking it is the most direct form of vitamin D with my limited knowledge and confused state about this vitamin.
I didn't use it for a long time because I still was not...
Thank you all, great response.
I've come across some comments over the internet about feeling so tired few days after this test. At the moment I can't imagine feeling more tired than this and the outcome is to rule Addison's I guess. I'm not sure if I need it. Everyday is just about managing...
Very similar but not as bad as fainting. However, can't continue any of the visual experiences you've mentioned above. Another thing is I find it really difficult watching old black and white films. I get very dizzy and drained.
I was going to be given this test last year but I went away abroad for a long stay, been back and forward but could not arranged it. Now I have no excuse apart from I'm really scared of the side effects of the Synacthen. Do I really need to get this test I wonder? I don't want to feel any worse...
@Wonko my GP here in the UK gave me all these tests (full thyroid panel) at my local surgery. Initial thyroid investigation they don't mind giving; all the tests, but later they don't want to measure everything unfortunately. Can you not go to your GP and mention all your problems. They are...
@Wonko, I've not read the whole thread, I had low temperature and felt kind of dry all over. This was couple of years ago. Prior to this I had many thyroid panels with normal results. Except the antibodies were always high. After this temperature drop episode in my next panel everything was...
My GP is very happy that I look up and present a picture with possibilities to her. She says it is easier for her to investigate the problem when the patient is knowledgeable and aware of what is going on. She always says you know your body better than I do, you've been living in it for a long...
Pffffh! Just go and die quietly please...
This is the motto of the person who wrote the article.
However I came across very helpful NHS staff, really amazing people really want to help. I also met some not very helpful ones, I'd say they are minority.
I'm sorry Inara it is actually Venotrex. I wrote it wrong. It is a kind of medicine that increases the bloodstream to problem areas. It is prescribed for varicus veins and also maybe for hemeroids. I think it is made from natural substance like horse chestnut.
@Inara, sorry for the sore elbow. My ankle felt like the way you've described; wound like. Then it went on like if someone was holding it tightly. The dr suggested Ventrotex and it helped a bit. I now stopped using it.
Get well soon.
