UK 21 June 2018 | 3-hour ME debate in Westminster Hall, secured by Carol Monaghan

This was exactly my thought. I didn't say anything about him yesterday because I was afraid of stoking the fire. I think the minister played this up intentionally to deflect attention as it would be more newsworthy, and seems to have worked. Any thoughts on requesting anything from Rickey...

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

Given a lot of people conflate the two terms or use them interchangeably, Sharpe is really just clutching at straws.

I agree with you about @Cheshire 's argument. Also agree that boom and bust is completely at odds with fear avoidance. But just to say also, the "boom and bust" model also only exists in the wild imagination of the PACE PIs minds. There is no Boom, just the bust after any over exertion.

Donate to the £55k fundraiser for a UK #MEAction organiser!

Just wondering, is there a reason there is a specific fundraiser for a UK organiser? Could this not be funded from a central MEAction fund or a general fundraiser? The reason I ask is, it is likely only UK patients will donate to this, yet from what I gather the UK already is on a par with the...

Is this the person Sharp was claiming was independently choosen ? Or am I getting mixed up.

    #MEAction - UK Organiser

I don't think anyone was being put off, however it seems this is a bigger (and maybe more interesting) discussion and might worth starting a new thread to discuss this merits of advocacy vs research donations ?

April 2018 Minutes of the CMRC meeting and latest news

Of course it was. There is no doubt about this. It's a victory that they have been given the boot. Personally I wouldn't bother complaining about the wording of letters etc. or even looking for more answers regarding SMCs involvement, it's already all been well documented and now we should take...

Donate to the £55k fundraiser for a UK #MEAction organiser!

I would agree with that. The problem was not of our own creating and it doesn't help when we have to go up against the machine of the SMC. Has any thought been put into hiring a PR agency ? Now that the SMC seems to have got the boot form CMRC maybe there is an opportunity to get a different...

13th Invest in ME Research International ME Conference - 1st June 2018

It does read to be a bit underhanded though - are you sure the doubt is inappropriate? If what is implied is true, I can understand where iimer are coming from. Sounds like some people piggy backed iimerc having previously ignored them, and now plan to steal a bit of thunder. I guess we'll...

Jen Brea $100,000 crowdfund for 2018 #MEAction activities

I think engagement is always good. I appreciate you are all busy but it might be worth considering having a thread on here with regular updates of your work, you'll be guaranteed to get some feedback, if nothing else. Personally it's been a while now since I visited the MEAction website, but I...

Manipulating the Alpha Level Cannot Cure Significance Testing, Trafimow et al, 2018

Reducing the p value means being more certain the results are not by chance. I don't think anyone would advocate "boiling it down" to a binary decision based on p value alone, but maybe some people do this. Also, I would have thought it goes without saying that inference should be based on...

13th Invest in ME Research International ME Conference - 1st June 2018

I spoke to Nath and Wallit about the slow pace of the study and they said the reason was that they couldn't get enough patients and that a lot of them turn out to not have ME. They didn't give a figure though, nor did they elaborate. It did strike me as very odd and made me wonder how all the...

13th Invest in ME Research International ME Conference - 1st June 2018

I was sitting down having my lunch and Ingrid Rekeland walked by, so i jumped up and stopped her in her tracks and pestered her until she divulged some information. She said they are a lot more cautious now after the ritux trial, but she still thinks it possible that cyclo was the main drug...
