News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

There I was eating my dinner watching the BBC News to catch up on the latest about Corona virus. Then Simon Wessely appears on screen staring right at me, spouting on about it. Dinner ruined. Is there anything this guy isn't an expert on.

    Cyclophosphamide

Do you believe ritux failure means cyclo failure or is there another reason you say that there is no theoretical basis. The theoretical basis for ritux was built out of anecdotal reports of delayed responses from patients post cancer treatment. Does this not fit with cyclo?

ME/CFS Alert: Ron Davis discusses his research at Stanford

I think he was talking about putting the pathways associated with the metabolic trap, into bakers yeast. Presumably to make it easier to study.

The Stanford Daily: Stanford Medicine professor (José Montoya) fired for violating University rules of conduct (june 2019)

This is an assumption. He is still innocent under the law. None of us know the details, so let's not speculate.

Pfizer had clues its blockbuster drug could prevent Alzheimer’s. Why didn’t it tell the world?

It's a blockbuster for arthritis. I doubt many pay for it out of their own pocket. Drug companies set the price based on what they think they can charge, to make them the most profit, not on what it costs to manufacture.

Pfizer had clues its blockbuster drug could prevent Alzheimer’s. Why didn’t it tell the world?

I don't follow... Hugely expensive means more profits, hardly a valid reason for them not to tell anyone? Also, while the side effects you list are indeed serious, if it is approved for arthritis, then these should not be more of an issue for alzheimers? I would wager that the main reason is...

A nanoelectronics-blood-based diagnostic biomarker for ME/CFS (2019) Esfandyarpour, Davis et al

I don't think it's being abused under the conditions of the test. It did show specificity between pwme and healthy controls, which is what the test was about.

Update from Ron Davis April 2019 Interview with BenH

Reading that message, I wouldn't conclude Dr phair isn't enthusiastic. I'd just say he is doing a good job about not being over enthusiastic.

Update from Ron Davis April 2019 Interview with BenH

I agree. He should take a step back although I realise that would be difficult. My question is what is a 'particle' ?

    Orthostatic intolerance

When I was first ill, I used to lie down as soon as I got home from work, not because I was so exhausted that I had to lie down, but i just felt the urge to lie down, and I felt better. I had no idea what OI was so i would have to say I didn't know I had it. I just knew I felt better lying down.

Thanks, I don't subscribe to that. But I'll keep an eye out for it on other sources.

    The Bigger Picture

Anecdote. I went to a physio with a bad back, he told me most people get better from their initial pain, within 6 weeks, regardless of what they do. But, he said everyone attributes their improvement to whatever they did the week before they got better. (often physio) No improvement means...

Journal of Medical Ethics - Blog: It’s Time to Pay Attention to “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome” (2019) O'Leary

This jumped out at me too. I didn't think tests were to prove the cause of something, rather they were to determine if something was present or not. I have heard some patients do benefit from OI treatments, and even from a credibility point of view it means a lot to a patient if they can point...

COMPare Trials, Ben Goldacre et al

Any chance that was caught on camera, that sounds so awkward it would be classic viewing.
