I suspect that may be the case - not necessarily BPS it can be as the proposals are more exploratory as there isn't a science based to build on. But the MRC are very defensive so really hard to tell (they have talked about some process changes). I keep going back to the problem of not enough...
There are very few applications as very few researchers and given the known difficulties then the more speculative ones don't get put in. The panels don't see those with bad reviews either. Proposals are sent for review and then the panel look.
I think recording is different as the speakers need to be happy with that. But this was already the minimum that the MRC thought they could get away with.
Not just patients also researchers. They are saying it would be too expensive to have some virtual breakout rooms along with those who are attending in person. I think it says something about how they see ME as a priority.
Could there be a relationship with hormones - in terms say of triggering mechanisms. I'm saying that as I have a vague memory that the norway study showed the rates for children are more even until adolescence.
I would have thought getting more researchers involved and following up on things found in decode would be more important (or as important) especially in terms of the potential to turn knowledge into potential treatments.
This means recruiting those researchers with expertise in the right areas...
My feeling is that A4ME, MERUK and MEA are quite aligned on an how we push research (and talking on this along with UK researchers). So I think there are groupings we can build on.
There are some discussion sections in the afternoon. So I assume they will form groups, discuss questions and share with the other groups. But I'm guessing.
I would see no reason for not having more virtual people particularly for talks. We may be able to get them replayed (it would be...
I think you are reading too much into their intent. As far as I can tell they are completely indifferent. They simply don't want to think about ME.
They are a funding club who current research groups apply to and they are judged by other current research groups. So they keep spending money on...
yes there is work on a new logo and an update of the website. Its still functioning but really a way of exchanging information between the charities and it has been a way of providing a combined view into the governments delivery process.
I think the intent is to have groups discussing different topics in the afternoon and that can be harder with larger numbers (when facilitation is required).
We could ask presenters to record the presentations separately.
Yes I have a ticket.
Who would you say should be invited. I assume the...
I think or hope the intent was to invite researchers who could follow up on decode results. Ideally so follow ups can happen to write research proposals..
But we have no idea who they have invited so hard to know.
(In reality I think this is an event that is being organized by the NIHR to...
I suspect you need different data as it may be just encouraging people to actively think about pacing helps.
Probably unethical but could you have everyone using devices but somedays they give a random signal (or a bad signal) to users others they give accurate information. Then see how people...
As I understand it metformin is used for type 2 diabeties and PCOS. Type 2 diabeties seems to be weight related and I believe PCOS gets worse (or the insulin resistance) with additional weight.
Some people with ME put on weight (due to lack of activity)
So I can see you could get a result...
I don't think a single definition is needed but I suspect what may be useful is a collection of material that could be used selectively by researchers to select patients for a given piece of research. Having a collection of material, guidance etc would hopefully help a group to get going faster...
I thought someone was working on guidance for hospitals when treating ME patients (for other things). I had a feeling that there was something also in the latest training modules along these lines - if so it may be worth directing the ward to these.
