A copy of the program was posted online. Apparently ME/CFS was barely mentioned and the Burnet Institute thought it was a good idea to invite Nathan Butler (of PACE Trial fame) along as an 'expert' on Long Covid treatments.
Queensland Health were responsible for one of the most offensive and poorly informed submissions to the Parliamentary Inquiry into Long Covid. It was in the same vein as this.
Some further information here...
The journalist who wrote the article has ME/CFS. He's active in some local ME/CFS groups and was quite determined to get the tone of the article correct.
Apparently those photographed were told not to dress up or wear make-up especially for the occasion as they wanted an accurate depiction.
I don't have the cognitive capacity (or the stomach) to listen to this right now. Apparently Norman Swan was on national radio claiming that graded exercise and psychological therapy were beneficial for Long Covid:
Those of us familiar with Swan (there are a number of posts in this thread)...
I'm sure the many Australians suffering from post-viral problems following Ross River Fever would be quite surprised to read this. Some don't meet ME/CFS diagnostic criteria but there are plenty in local ME/CFS support groups who do.
This recent newspaper article comes to mind:
One of the authors, John Graham, was a specialist physician who continued to help people with ME/CFS after he retired. I never saw him but exchanged emails with him on occasion. He unfortunately suffered from significant health issues that stopped him seeing patients quite some time ago.

There's a long Twitter thread here from Emerge Australia summarising the events of the meeting:
[perhaps there should be a dedicated thread for the new Parliamentary Friends of ME/CFS group?]
It is a bit odd that the Baker Institute appears to suddenly be interested in PEM when they are involved in a highly controversial study on graded exercise for Long Covid.
