I have concluded that these kinds of studies increase distress and distrust because they spread misinformation. This could be avoided if the authors spent more time with patients and were willing to question some transmitted wisdom. Some psychiatrists from the UK have used the excuse of mental...
The problem seems to be that the authors don't recognize that the ideas of White, Chalder etc ideas make no sense.
Also, you know what would fix all this psychological distress? Effective treatment of the illness. ;)
I'm sorry dear authors but this is a bit hard to believe. I think it's unlikely that you succeeded where others tried for 30 years with far more resources and failed. There is a discrepancy between what this paper seems to suggest (meaningful improvement in ability to exert) and what PACE showed...
Can we see the CPET results for before and after?

@Kalliopse what a horrible program. It's no wonder it's so hard to make progress when these quacks are constantly lying and hyping their probably no better than placebo treatments.
How would one persuade a reluctant organization to start a search anyway? Maybe by telling them how bad the problem is, how long it has gone unaddressed, and how many people are affected?
I heard stories about Ampligen being very effective for one person or a few, but the clinical trial results were also disappointingly weak.
It would only make sense to study this further if you can predict the response.
I'm sure you could terrify parents if you told them their children could get this in high school and drop out and become disabled for the rest of their lives.
Pointing to some other measures of disease impact than mortality would maybe be better because in terms of mortality it does not stand...
The list of projects is impressive.
We continue to analyze the Severely Ill Patients Study data, which is a huge job and continues to give us new insights. We are working on publications of this data.
We are continuously comparing all our diagnostic tests with each other and with Naviaux’s...
