The coronavirus advisor to the UK is apparently a psychologist that also heads the Behavioural Insights team.
Maybe that explains the incompetence in the UK's response.
I think it would be better if he avoided branching out to other topics like L-form bacteria and stuck to metabolism. In part because this idea of L-form bacteria isn't new and nothing much seems to have come out of it.
If he could identify the blood actors that are altering cell function then...
If carnitine works for you like it does for me, you'll probably do more on that day than you normally would.
It also has some mild side effects that limit its usefulness.
Fuck people who knowingly prescribe placebos and take the easy way out instead of admitting they don't know how to treat this and writing a letter to the relevant health authorities to fund research so that we find out how to actually treat it.
According to TV news, they are now trying a drug normally used to treat rheumatoid arthritis on patients. They didn't say what the rationale was, but I suspect it's the idea that part of the problem is an overly aggressive immune response in lung tissue.
It seems that it will be impossible to...

My mom spoke with our neighbor and he said that for the last weeks they all had some persistent flu. No fever (just like in my family) but some cough (we don't have that) and they feel weak and presumably crappy (like us).
It seems to be a low grade fairly slow burning flu. If other people...
I am not sure what would happen if I tried to stand up. I think I would succeed but could risk an immediate fall due to poor orthostatic compensation and low strength. I certainly would not have good control over my body. I would (I think) adjust after some time but feel rather unwell, and after...
Dysbiosis could in theory also result in "something in the blood" that triggers alarm systems, similar to an infection, without anyone able to find an actual infection.
But if fatigue is a medication side effect that would mean physicians might feel bad about themselves and the drug industry might risk lawsuits. It's so much better to just agree that the patients are to blame for fatigue.
