Article "Mast Cell Activation May Underlie 'Chronic Fatigue Syndrome'"

I don't see that. But I agree that for many diseases diagnostic criteria are a bit vague. Ok. So there are different opinions, yours @Jonathan Edwards, Levine's, Lapp's, Kaufman's, Molderings' and colleagues', Afrin's and colleagues', my doctor's (plus two centers for rare diseases) and others.

    Hausotter about CFS/ME

F48.0 is Neurasthenia. Exactly this. It is very difficult to argue against psychiatric diagnoses. It's not enough to just say it's unscientific. One needs to point out exactly where and why. Now, in Hausotter's case he's contradicting himself by saying that G93.3 is only diagnosed via a...

    Hausotter about CFS/ME

@James Morris-Lent, I agree with you and I feel the same. That somebody who earnestly equates a mid 19th century "diagnosis" with a today's disease can be taken seriously and viewed as an "expert" is beyond me. It's like equating MS with "hysteric paralysis" or tuberculosis with a "psychological...

    Hausotter about CFS/ME

Because he says so. One argument is that the psych. diagnoses are carefully done (by psychiatrists) whereas the ME diagnosis is the result of a one time appointment, where the BPS model is ignored. I see "Fatigue syndrome" F48.0 is the same as Neurasthenia, at least they seem to have the same...

UK CFS Patient Rediagnosed with Lyme

Could you give some references to read? I am not well informed about Lyme but interested.

    Hausotter about CFS/ME

I don't want to convince him, I want to show to others that his statements have nothing to do with reality. He's doing reports that are used by authorities, by insurers, by medical services, in court... Thank you @MSEsperanza! Very helpful information. Quite a good idea. Have you specific...

Article "Mast Cell Activation May Underlie 'Chronic Fatigue Syndrome'"

From the attached document (table 2): "Major criteria 1. Multifocal or disseminated dense infiltrates of mast cells in bone marrow biopsies and/or in sections of other extracutaneous organ(s) (e.g., gastrointestinal tract biopsies; CD117-, tryptase-and CD25-stained) 2. Unique constellation...

    Hausotter about CFS/ME

thank you both, both is very helpful! Mr. Hausotter obviously doesn't work professionally after reading some of his stuff. The problem is: He is viewed as an expert on assessments, including CFS assessments. Other doctors copy him. He obviously lacks knowledge and probably something else, but...

Article "Mast Cell Activation May Underlie 'Chronic Fatigue Syndrome'"

I didn't say or imply that people with ME have more often mast cell issues than healthy people (who wouldn't be healthy if they had mast cell problems?). But I agree it would be interesting to know whether people with immunological issues more often have mast cell problems, too. I seem to have...

    Hausotter about CFS/ME

I came across another German BPS proponent, Dr. Wolfgang Hausotter. Mr. Hausotter has written several "guidelines" for assessments, including CFS. Here is an abstract of one of these "guidelines", published in the Versicherungszeitschrift (insurance journal)...

Um, is it normal to have people switch arms in a trial that tests treatments?

Article "Mast Cell Activation May Underlie 'Chronic Fatigue Syndrome'"

Personally, if MCAS and ME can be found I think they are distinct, most probably sharing some processes (which is no surprise, because everything in the body interacts). But: Clinicians are taught that it's very improbable that a person has two distinct diseases - hmmm? I was told by a...

Found here: ---https://www.reddit.com/r/cfs/comments/84nw0x/mast_cell_activation_may_underlie_chronic_fatigue/ (But the original is from here: https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/893858) Personally, I think the title is...discussable. :) When reading the article it gets clear that they don't...

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

When I heard SEID the first time I thought exactly this. At that point I wasn't diagnosed yet but I already knew in my guts it's something physical. I thought it sounded like stress intolerance, and that sounded like it's psychological.

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

This is a "danger" we all live with, be it diagnosed with ME, CFS, SEID, CF postviral CFS or CFIDS. That doesn't mean we should stick to names that are belittling and that are putting "fatigue" in the center. It's something I only really understood some days ago. Nearly everybody - including...

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

To me, Mr. Sharpe said it quite clearly: For him CFS and ME are not equal. Actually he said this several times on Twitter. This could include the admission that CFS was their invention, in the end. He seems to refer to Oxford-CFS and whatever-ME; because in PACE they used the Oxford criteria...

    Gay conversion therapy

Now THIS is a special taste in sexuality...plague others with electrical shocks...ah, wait, not so special today...it's sadism. Although in my world, I wouldn't call sexual sadism "deviant" (as long as both sides agree), but I would call sadists so. I am absolutely incredelous what exists...
