Bias in medicine - Sex and Race John Oliver

Its very common to region lock video or remove clips from places due to copyright. Happens all the time, not just with things that might embarrass someone.

Warnings against dangerous Miracle Mineral Solution (bleach, chlorine dioxide)

You would expect people aware of ME/CFS politics and research to be particularly aware of such things too.......

Audio distraction: podcasts, audio books, radio on demand

Amazons kindle unlimited is a good alternative to audible as many of the books they offer have audible narration included. It costs the same as audible but you can borrow multiple books to listen to from a selection rather than getting to own 1 book a month from audible.

Acupuncture and other traditional Chinese medicine news and discussion thread

I thought acupuncture in general had been shown to be no better than placebo?

Genome-wide association study identifies eight risk loci and implicates metabo-psychiatric origins for anorexia nervosa

As you mention that I’d just like to add this. As someone with OCD is important for people that haven’t experienced this to remember that it will make you do absolutely insane things to the point of utter self destruction. Imagine the compulsion you’d feel to run into a burning building if one...

Genome-wide association study identifies eight risk loci and implicates metabo-psychiatric origins for anorexia nervosa

Fully agree with this. Between the media headlines and the confusion between anorexia and anorexia nervosa this coverage and some reactions to it have not been good and pretty insulting at times. I’m someone who is naturally thin, rarely hungry and that has to make a conscious effort to eat to...

Post-Exertional Malaise Is Associated with Hypermetabolism, Hypoacetylation and Purine Metabolism Deregulation in ME/CFS Cases, 2019, McGregor et al

I’d be interested to get a fitness tracker and see this because I feel like I get similar symptoms. My OCD just wouldn’t take well to that much data about my health though.

ME Association and Carol Monaghan meeting with DWP Minister about benefits

Id like to see the case law they are referring to because from my understanding this is a gross oversimplification of the reliability rule. Especially giving a seemingly arbitrary time like that.

K Pressin: new treatment for ME CFS(?) - video Dr Derek Enlander (25 June 2019)

I did it with Dr Myhill when I hadn’t learnt enough to know better.

K Pressin: new treatment for ME CFS(?) - video Dr Derek Enlander (25 June 2019)

Makes it even more worrying that he’s not a fringe doctor and yet promotes this stuff.

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

But people suffer strokes anyway, is there any evidence it was the head position that caused it?

Do all ME / CFS sufferers have low stamina?

I actually used to have the same thing many years ago, I’m worse now in general so it’s not the same anymore.

Comprehensive stool test and Regenerus Lab

It still doesn’t mean it’s worth your money, if Jonathan thinks the science is nonsense then I can’t see the test results being useful even if they actually perform them.

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

But everyone with concerns is just overreacting....... It’s all deeply worrying for me.

Magical treatments and (lack of) peer review

So we just need to work out the opposite of a duck for the ying and everything will be ok. I suggest a rock because it doesn’t float or quack.
