    Silent clock

You can turn calls, messages etc off on Alexa. She can even be put in a do not disturb mode so she won’t say anything unless you ask something. She does sometimes activate wrongly when you’re talking or from the tv but it’s rare. It’s fine if you still don’t want one but the issues you posted...

    Silent clock

How would she feel about asking the time to an amazon echo dot? She would just have to say “alexa what’s the time?”. There’s a dim brief glow when the echo is activated but otherwise no lights.

Alt-med woo kills a small child. Again.

Again is a word that should be used more often to counter the false belief that alternative medicine is harmless. It is not.

BBC Radio 4 - Acceptance and commitment therapy -feat Trudie Chalder Nov 2019

Just seeing a counsellor/therapist and being able to talk about what’s going on is helpful. I’m not sure these specific techniques have much use beyond that. It’s just a shame it’s so expensive to access regular long term therapy.

Trial By Error: Professor Jonathan Edwards’ View of ME (includes discussion of exercise and long-term harm)

Exertion is a much better word than exercise. As others have said, exercise implies pushing beyond ‘normal’ activity, like going to the gym. Something most of us could never do.

Trial By Error: Professor Jonathan Edwards’ View of ME (includes discussion of exercise and long-term harm)

Exactly, I’ve known people at varying degrees of severity and obviously what they can do varies along with it. “Exercise” can be sitting forward to drink water for one and a mile walk for another. It’s all about your personal limitations.

Trial By Error: Professor Jonathan Edwards’ View of ME (includes discussion of exercise and long-term harm)

This is why I try to write ME/CFS where possible. It all drives me nuts.

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

That’s an astonishingly long time. Must be awful for the people bringing these cases to have to wait so long for resolution. If the claims are found to be true then that’s also an awful lot of new patients that are being seen in the meantime.

A proposal for ME Action: a commitment to evidence-based medicine

That pyramid needs to be shared a lot more!

Science minded people--help me engineer a simple structure to stay warm?

Moving back inside with your family for winter might be a better option if that’s possible. Hypothermia can sneak up on you, please be really careful.

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

Some people claim homeopathy and dozens of other similar “therapies” have helped them. There’s plenty of choice for analogies.

Daily Telegraph: Why do we tell women they're mad, when they're really ill? Nov 18 2019

Yes, in a story about equality they degenerate anyone with mental illness.... Edited for typo

British Psychological Society: Should some psychologists have the option to prescribe medication?

Same for me. I’d still rather psychologists didn’t prescribe anything

British Psychological Society: Should some psychologists have the option to prescribe medication?

To add to that I should also say that SSRIs probably saved my life, they had a big effect on my OCD in combination with CBT and ERT.

British Psychological Society: Should some psychologists have the option to prescribe medication?

Hmm, I’d rather see easier access to psychiatrists that this. eta- for mental health conditions not ME/CFS obviously.

I have no words for how appalling this is. It sickens me. And still MEaction do nothing at all.

To me CCI seems not too different to LP in relation to ME/CFS. Both are implausible, both have people claiming to be cured by them. Until there’s some evidence to support the claims I’ll treat them much in the same way.

Interesting how she only qualified her statistics when she was challenged on them...... I’m disgusted by it all and I cannot support MEaction in anything they do while she has a role in it.

Is it putting her down or her behaviour? The two are quite different and I’m appalled at the stuff she’s been posting

Cochrane review: Homeopathy for treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, 2019, Peckham et al

I suspect you are wrong. Plenty of trials have been done and shows homeopathy does not work. It also makes plenty of money for people selling it. This website is about evidence based medicine so you can’t be surprised at people following what many trials have shown over your anecdotal story.
