Action CIND Webinar: "Why Working out Doesn’t Work" by Workwell Foundation

Yes, huge 'sign'. to add: gait problems can occur after cognitive overexertion (talking too much).

The Effect of Comorbid Medical and Psychiatric Diagnoses on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, 2019, Natelson et al

It appears that h pylori became active (?) at the same time during my sudden ME viral onset. The infection symptoms manifested for 5 years and got worse until I was finally tested and properly treated. I read somewhere years ago that ME doctors have found this infection to be an issue with...

How to explain the 'fatigue' of ME/CFS to non-sufferers - comparisons they could understand

My GP who I've been seeing for 34 years asked me twice (in 29 years with ME) 'how is your fatigue', and I explained to her that it was more of a lack of physical and cognitive stamina, and that I need to lie down and 'recharge' frequently. My sister who works abroad commented once that her...

'Women have been woefully neglected': does medical science have a gender problem? Dec. 18, 2019, Nicola Slawson, The Guardian

Agree. Properly diagnosing Heart issues for women is a problem, and sending them home with a 'panic attack' diagnosis is/was common. "Previous BHF research has shown that women are 50 per cent more likely than men to receive the wrong initial diagnosis and are less likely to get a...

BBC Radio 4: The Misinformation Virus

This misinformation and hype was discussed on another thread, and how physicians and researchers should reach out more on social media concerning unscientific treatments (surgery) and give both the positive and negatives. I follow a few doctors on twitter and they're having a hell of time...

Junk food 'should be labelled with how long you need to exercise to burn it off'

Years ago I watched a program about the science behind making the addictive potato chip. Scientists calculate the perfect ratio of salt, fat and carbs that activates the brain reward centre and keeps people addicted. A potato chip is not just an innocent potato chip.

    Orthostatic intolerance

@lunarainbows a friend with POTs (and ME) told me that she didn't feel the need to lie down frequently or feel unwell from being upright like I did. It's so complicated.

    Orthostatic intolerance

The odd thing for me is that standing or sitting upright for too long is more distressing than moving around. I had workers here this week that spent 2.5 hrs cleaning the air ducts. After one hour of sitting upright I was feeling chest pressure/discomfort and forehead pressure. I felt...

Review: Astaxanthin: A Potential Mitochondrial-Targeted Antioxidant Treatment in Diseases and with Aging, 2019, Sztretye et al

I think that would make anyone feel better, including me. I must go out and get some. Healthy controls have always played a vital role.

Review: Astaxanthin: A Potential Mitochondrial-Targeted Antioxidant Treatment in Diseases and with Aging, 2019, Sztretye et al

I took this for 6 months because my beta-carotene and alpha-carotene markers were in very low range. psssf- nothing. How are we supposed to even know if it's helping? All my antioxidants are very low. My new thing is Japanese cheesecake. I eat it and feel better. Done.

Fatigue and sleepiness responses to experimental inflammation and exploratory analysis of the effect of baseline inflammation in healthy humans

I don't think we should read into this too much? In almost 30 yrs of illness I've cycled from hypersomnia, insomnia and normal sleep. . . . and lying down to rest when I'm in PEM.

Understanding jugular venous outflow disturbance, 2018, Zhou et al.

@GloriaDG This sounds similar for the subgroup of patients who were in the hereditary hypercoagulation state group presented for ME years ago, that they needed a different treatment approach because the 'trigger' that caused thickening of blood resulted in some form of injury to the vascular...

Understanding jugular venous outflow disturbance, 2018, Zhou et al.

Back in late 1990's/early 2000, hypercoagulation (thick blood) was a theory going around in the ME community. Blood thickening due to pathogens. A few of us here had our blood sent to the US (HEMEX labs) for testing, there were a handful of doctors treating their patients based on the...

Ron Davis latest: more evidence of "something in the blood" (Simon M blog)

I read a study (can't find it right now) that increased lactate impairs the coagulation system. I had an ISAC panel done years ago from HEMEX labs, and one particular marker indicated 'something in the blood'- interestingly enough. My doctor travelled down to a workshop in Arizona to meet with...

Trial By Error: Professor Jonathan Edwards’ View of ME (includes discussion of exercise and long-term harm)

Yup. I haven't had PEM for a little over 3 years from carefully pacing. I've had a viral/vertigo thing going on for a month, but was able to go out the other day and walk for 15 minutes. Next day I got what felt like PEM where my symptoms fluctuated for several hours. It...

Ron Davis latest: more evidence of "something in the blood" (Simon M blog)

Isn't that what ME is? The original triggering event is no longer present. Aren't most chronic illnesses caused by the biological reaction to an injury, and not the initial injury?

Elevated blood lactate in resting conditions correlate with post-exertional malaise severity in patients with ME/CFS - Ghali et al Dec 2019

Did you have your blood samples immediately tested or put on ice? If not, it can be increased. They did not give me proper instructions when my lactate was measured. Mine was in normal range 2 days after 50 minutes of running.
