I agree. I donated all my 10 N95 masks to a nearby walk-in clinic recently. There are ways to make homemade masks, they are not as effective as N95 but are helpful and better than not wearing anything.
I heard a few infectious disease doctors say that once we get infected (produce antibodies) and recover, then we can't get reinfected. But who knows? It's a new virus.
François Legault must be following Dr.Tam's recommendations? She is still not advising to wear masks. I think this 'idea' of not wearing masks has changed based on recent news coverage, and that now we should be wearing them.
@Barry COVID19 is an enveloped RNA virus.
These small, enveloped RNA viruses replicate via reverse transcription of their RNA genomes; the resulting DNA establishes persistence by integrating into the host genome, from which it generally cannot be dislodged. In most infected cells...
I have read that Wuhan residents who had tested positive earlier and then recovered from the disease are testing positive for the virus a second time. Based on data from several quarantine facilities in the city, which house patients for further observation after their discharge from hospitals...
Abstract:
The magnitude of the SBP fall (r=−0.07, P=NS) and the lowest upright SBP (r=0.08, P=NS) did not correlate with any reported symptom. These results suggest a poor relationship between the magnitude of the orthostatic BP fall, the upright orthostatic BP, and symptoms. Many patients are...
I did but she had returned home by that time. I sent her a big thank you and "I love it" by email and she thought it was funny. Who could ever understand PEM unless they've experienced it?
Agree. It takes 2-3 weeks to recover after my sister visits once a year. Several years ago she gave me a beautiful perfume oil custom made in Dubai that was wrapped in beautiful paper. She kept telling me to open it, but I had to explain that I was too mentally exhausted, and...
Another caution to consider is that it is the beginning of allergy season for some. Many are sneezing and we don't really know how long viral particles linger in the air.
Experiencing a rise in body temperature doesn't necessarily cause fever. Stress does bring on hot flashes/night sweats, but my actual body temperature remains normal. It might rise a little but only for a very short period. After that I feel chilled, no amount of blanket/duvet...
Freezing is a common method of preserving viruses in a laboratory setting and evidence from the WHO found the SARS virus can survive more than 21 days at 4C (39F) and –80C (-112F).
Therefore freezing is unlikely to inactivate the virus. When considering how the virus might survive in frozen...
@Rosie when I got home I put away the cold and freezer stuff but let everything else just sit in the bag for one day before washing down. I was totally paranoid and exhausted.
Fortunately when I went with a friend there was no waiting. I found that being extra careful and trying to follow the new 'rules' drained my cognition. I was a little scatter brained when I got home. Anything outside my routine thinking process drains me much quicker.
I'm eating steamed kale only at this time.
Wearing gloves doesn't protect you or him once he touches an infected surface. In fact it might give him a false sense of security because once he touches his face he's contaminated.
I also cut in line without realizing because there was a 2 metre distancing green tape on the floor, and I didn't see the tape or the people standing in line. They politely told me to get to the back of the line.
