Just a few hours ago on CNN they stated that The Trump administration signaled on Sunday that it had given up on controlling the spread of the coronavirus.
"In particular people with overlapping pathologies such as Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, Ehlers Danlos Syndromes, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome or overtraining scenarios need to be carefully managed to avoid exacerbation of symptoms and to enable steady progress".
Enable steady...
Years ago a Canadian doctor was saying that chlamydia pneumoniae could be implicated as a risk factor for some late-onset AD patients, and that he treated patients with abx with positive results. He also said they found this pathogen in autopsied brains of AD patients, and that it...
I've had ME since the age of 29 and I can definitely tell the difference since starting meno 5 years ago (53). Reduced stamina, immune system going haywire, weakness in my hands/wrists, full stop weakness when I climb stairs, mood swings etc. I would describe the weakness and loss of...
My sister describes her 'brain fog' as not remembering things and feeling fuzzy head.
For me it feels the same as physical PEM except it's my brain. It's full stop. I can no longer process or absorb information and my brain feels sore. I feel nauseous and off-balance. My calf muscles...
@Wonko
What really strikes me as a possible over reaction is not being able to see family during the holidays as a 'crisis'. Perhaps I've had ME for too long or being social introvert is the reason, but I've never felt that my mental health was in an emergency crisis when I got sick. My...
Agree. My cognitive impairment isn't permanent, but just like physical PEM, it can develop into less and less stamina over time. I don't think we will ever find a proper descriptive term to describe it though.
Neuroscientist Lisa Mosconi: ""For every man suffering from Alzheimer's, there are two women. So why is that?"
Great TED talk here.
Men have more testosterone, women have more estrogens. But what really matters here is that these hormones differ in their longevity. Men's testosterone doesn't...
For myself, I've never liked or related to the term 'brain fog'. Dr. Alain Moreau of the OMF uses the term 'foggy brain' when describing ME and OI.
I agree with @MEMarge that difficulty/impairment with processing and absorbing information gives a better description. My cognitive...
I don't know which COVID thread to post this article on. Cancer surgeons in Ontario Canada are reporting a sharp rise in the number of people coming to hospital with advanced cancers. It's an unintended consequence of the sudden shutdown of non-urgent health-care services during the spring...
The EB virus can develop into autoimmune diseases and cancer years from now. Some never fully recover and continue to experience less stamina. Look at HPV, and how some strains develop into cervical cancer 15-20 years down the road if not detected and treated in the early stages.
Where...
Patients may develop POTS after a viral illness, serious infections, medical illness, pregnancy and trauma such as head injury. Not all post-infectious patients develop ME.
I'm wondering what treatments are available for long-haulers if testing doesn't indicate a treatable problem? If it's post-infectious, then most doctors can't really do much at this point except wait it out because they won't know what's going on with their bodies either. They can...
I wonder if their 'prescription' will be to go to the mall and "buy something nice" like I was told by an ER doctor.
Btw, I have always bought myself something nice, but it didn't prevent me from becoming ill.
