    Sudden improvement in eyesight

After being keto for a year I suddenly realized I didn’t need glasses for distance anymore. I think this is common development. my theory is it might be due to reduction of inflammation as my arthritis and headaches are also gone. Intermittent fasting reduces inflammation too...

[BBC] GcMAF: Unlicensed HIV drug 'nearly killed patient' (Noakes pleads guilty)

@Milo - respectfully, I am aware that many patients cannot afford the cost of even $100/month for medications or supplements - and I consider myself lucky that I can (so far) afford it. My daughter had the opportunity to go on an antiviral (one of the V's) that is prescribed by the most...

[BBC] GcMAF: Unlicensed HIV drug 'nearly killed patient' (Noakes pleads guilty)

Yes, @Sisyphus it appears to be. The thread is about both- the original articles are about GcMaf only. I haven't heard anything about any dangers associated with MAF 878 (probiotic version) and the cost is $100/month, less than the cost of the injectable GcMaf.

[BBC] GcMAF: Unlicensed HIV drug 'nearly killed patient' (Noakes pleads guilty)

Wow - GcMAF intersects with the third rail of medicine - vaccinations and autism. I never knew that before... Now I understand the hysteria in the Washington Post article - just looking at the adjectives used!! And 5 patients died (they were terminal!) Gee my mother died after taking chemo...

[BBC] GcMAF: Unlicensed HIV drug 'nearly killed patient' (Noakes pleads guilty)

Yes, I agree with you. If only we had the resources to test everything... I was sticking up for the MAF because it worked for me - though of course I know it won't for others (it didn't for my daughter). If the probiotic form was banned - I would lose my 'life' so maybe I'm over reacting -...

Sorry @Alvin I'm not sure what you're asking... can you expand?

[BBC] GcMAF: Unlicensed HIV drug 'nearly killed patient' (Noakes pleads guilty)

I am taking the probiotic MAF and it has put me into remission - I don't believe it's snake oil - however, it probably only helps a subset of patients and I am in remission because of a combination of treatments, but the MAF is definitely a necessary part, as I have tested all of them. I found...

Action for ME: "We need your help! Connect M.E. survey"

I'm looking for local patients that I could be of assistance to. I had this idea when I attended the first MEAction meeting in NYC. I wish there was a data base of patients in area and volunteers (I would def be one and have filled out the form) who could find one another. Of course vetting...

Thankyou for the congrats!! I feel very lucky. My daughter got severe ME when I found my remission - but I have energy to take care of her. 3 parts for me (it's been 3 years on and off so I've got it tried and tested) Being in Ketosis Lower Inflammation from Keto diet (inflammatory events...

    Ketogenic diet

Hi Cheesus - If your keto readings are below .6 then you are in keto. I think it would be hard to get into keto so quickly unless you were fasting. Keep it up - hopefully you don't get any keto flu symptoms - keep hydrated and lots of salt Kafka Edited to add - disregard this post - senior...

    Ketogenic diet

This is more difficult than it sounds... I never read her book - and there is little to no info on line! There is also a Wahl's Paleo Plus facebook group that is very helpful for eating and recipe suggestions.. I've attached easy reference charts and here is a link that I found helpful for...

    Ketogenic diet

@Skycloud Besides the keto diet, there is also the AIP (auto-immune protocol). the low Histamine Diet, and the Low-Oxylate Diet. It''s pretty overwhelming - I have tried some of these for myself and my severe ME daughter. There are so many foods to eliminate that it might be easier to...

    Ketogenic diet

The keto diet is highly anti inflammatory - It takes 3-6 months to start feeling effects of lowered inflammation - after one year even my eyesight improved. I was on keto one year before I tried the MAF - and I suspect that if I had tried it earlier it wouldn't have worked. I also kind of...

    Ketogenic diet

@leokitten I think it is combination of both the reduction of inflammation (neuro and body) and the metabolic/circumventing part of ketosis. For me, I need both to stay in remission - any inflammatory event takes me out - and coming off keto temporarily also takes me out. of course I also...

    Ketogenic diet

I would also like to hear any updates from anyone trying keto Below is a link to my intro - with more info on my keto experience (and remission). In my case I'm not sure that it improved ME symptoms on it's own - but I experienced so many benefits for other health issues that I would...

    Ketogenic diet

Wow @leokitten I am also in remission with a ketogenic diet but I don't have to be deep into ketosis to make a difference. It works with the combination of MAF (Macrophage Activating Factor) a probiotic mix which I culture with Agar. I've gone off each (the MAF I switched temporarily to...

Marathon runner forced to quit work after developing ME claims diet change gave him his life back

I agree, It does sound like food allergies. However I manage my ME with a very low carb and an elimination diet - and have found that the resulting decreased inflammation, keto diet and specific probiotics (MAF) have eliminated all symptoms. I was diagnosed by two NY ME specialists, and have 2...

@Louie41 I haven't done my introduction yet..... But currently am in full remission with a two part treatment that I stumbled upon by sheer luck. !!! Unfortunately, it has not worked for my daughter. I am taking good care of myself and have the energy to care for my daughter (which is a...
