Recommendations for NHS referral requests in the Brighton area please

The snag is that list includes the good and the bad. I think Mrs S is after a personal recommendation.

Janet Dafoe - The Whitney Plea

[edited] Why is it a problem for people to express their opinion on the video compilation sent to Francis Collins? Both positive and negative? Discussion can help us make better advocacy choices in the future and that benefits us all.

"Is fatigue a disease-specific or generic symptom in chronic medical conditions?" (Dutch CBT proponents involved)

Well, as someone who has an underactive thyroid, been very anaemic lots of times and has ME, I can tell you that not all fatigue is the same. All three feel markedly different. Okay, we don't know what to do about ME yet, beyond pacing and not exercising, but it's no good treating anaemia...

As so many patients experience relapsing/remitting episodes anyway, then we're back to - you might as well have done nothing.

Janet Dafoe - The Whitney Plea

I wish her a speedy recovery. It must be even more stressful as she ''ll be worrying and wondering how Whitney is while she can't be there for him. I don't like the prayer hand, it's nothing personal against Janet. It's not even the clip with the Dafoe's and Ron Davis (who I admire). I just...

I'm not happy with any possible link with the prayer hand video, but I agree with @Sasha.

If they don't reply on here will you let us know @Andy? I'm not happy with this either.

Leonard Jason wants ME/CFS patients to do a PEM survey

Finally, I got it done. Can I suggest that the next time someone has a questionnaire for people with ME they get patients opinion on the layout first? I don't mean to sound snippy. I'm glad they are doing this and I want to help and participate. The layout made it harder than it needed to be...

Well...it does no harm for his attitude and answers to appear in the public domain. It could come back to haunt him soon. Hopefully.

I would translate this as: I can't answer this question without appearing shifty, I don't want to answer this question, I don't like it and so I am going to say it isn't a very good, interesting or "curious" question. I, personally, am very curious about this question and would like to hear the...

Psychogenic fever: how psychological stress affects body temperature in the clinical population (Oka 2015)

Good question. From my own schooldays - my school was a beautiful, old building. Lessons lasted about 45 minutes and you often changed classrooms between lessons. Some teachers finished bang on time but occasionally might run over slightly. One year we had one lesson on the ground floor, but...

World ME Alliance, was previously IAFME: International Alliance for ME

Perhaps I misunderstood @Andy, but did MEGA not also plan to repeat a lot of work already carried out by the Biobank? In which case why not extend their remit as they've already done a lot of the work?

S4ME Q&A with Prof Chris Ponting - Question Collection Thread

Given this: Bolding mine. From this thread: https://s4me.info/threads/m-e-highlighted-at-the-71st-world-health-assembly.4286/#post-74554 What is your position on MEGA?

World ME Alliance, was previously IAFME: International Alliance for ME

Bolding mine. Genome study - Does that sound like MEGA to you, or am I overly suspicious? Post exercise measurements - Personally, I simply cannot afford to lose any more ground and so would be reluctant to do this or ask someone else to. What about diagnostic criteria? Maybe I'm overly...

True and with the role out of IAPT (plus MUS,MUPS,PSS,BDS, BDD) in the UK the next stage of their plan is already being implemented. When PACE finally falls they will still have a ready supply of new victims.

Researchers Question “Gold Standard” Status of CBT

You may well be right. I would suggest it's also possible that as both women and people in lower stations in life knew their place, if they knew what was good for 'em, there may be assumptions made about their cognitions. I have been privileged enough to have been friends or have had some...

Clare Gerada: influence on UK medical practice and ME/CFS management

This "them and us" attitude kills. Patients not complaining can kill. I understand doctors are human and make mistakes. If they were more open and honest with patients and had a more equal relationship they would probably find patients don't want doctors scapegoated or punished unfairly...
